LCM, GCF, and Prime Factorization
Scavenger Hunt
Materials Needed
• 1 copy of the 8 task cards (slides 3-4).
• 1 copy of the Recording Sheet for each student (slide 5).

Instructions for Teacher

1) Prepare the task cards (note: I print them on 2 sheets of colorful paper, cut
them out, then laminate them).
2) Tape the task cards around your classroom in any order – sneaky hiding spots
are encouraged J
3) Distribute one Recording Sheet to each student. If this is their first
scavenger hunt, it might be a good idea to model how the activity works as a
whole class.
4) Allow students to start at any card they like, but try not to have more than
3-4 students at a card at one time to prevent crowding.
5) Students work on the Scavenger Hunt until they have successfully completed
all 8 task cards. I allow students to work together to encourage
mathematical discussion, but each student must do their own work on their
own Recording Sheet. Also, my students love quiet music playing in the
background!
