Oracle Active Data Guard

➔ Real Time Query


➔ Block Change Tracking across the Standby Database
➔ Block Recovery across Primary and Standby Databases.

REAL TIME QUERY

In Active Data Guard, Even Standby Database is open in READ ONLY mode, Changes are
applied to Standby and Data is up to date. (Ensure Apply Continues).

Block Change Tracking/FAST Incremental Backups

This is possible only on Physical Standby Database and not in Logical Standby Databases. It
is possible to offload Backups to Physical Standby Database.

If there is Media Failure in Primary DB, You can restore from the Standby Database.
BLOCK RECOVERY

To perform Block Corruption recovery, Oracle will use Archive Log files in Standard
Database.

If Block is corrupted in Primary Database, It is automatically recovered from Physical


Standby Database.
