1. Aim: Install VirtualBox or VMware Workstation on a windows 7 or 8 Operating


System and set up various flavors of Linux or Windows as virtual machines.

2. Theory: VirtualBox, an open-source software, functions as a hypervisor, facilitating


the virtualization of the x86 computing architecture. Acting as a mediator between the
hardware and the user, it creates a virtual machine (VM) in which an additional
operating system (OS) – termed the "guest" OS – can be executed. Meanwhile, the
primary operating system overseeing VirtualBox's operations is referred to as the
"host" OS.

3. Procedure:

Steps to install Virtual Box:

Step 1: Search Virtual box in search bar of google.

Step 2: This is the interface of the official website from where VirtualBox is to be
downloaded. Select the platform and downloading starts.

Step 3: Click on the Next.

Step 4: Click the ‘Yes’ button.

Step 5: Click on install button.

Step 6: Click on ‘Finish’ button.

Step 7: After successful installation of VirtualBox the interface looks like this.

Steps to create virtual machine through Open Nebula

Step 8: Open the browser give the local host address and press enter. The below
interface gets opened give the username and password.

Step 9: The Virtual Machine templates gets opened like this in Opennebula.

1. Accomplished the seamless download, installation, and configuration of


VirtualBox and Nebula on the system.
2. Proficiently generated and administered virtual machines within VirtualBox,
skillfully allocating resources and harnessing pivotal functionalities such as
snapshots.
3. Navigated Nebula's platform with finesse, proficiently accessing challenges
and immersing in cybersecurity environments.
4. Acquired knowledge regarding the VirtualBox application and the intricacies
of virtual environments.
5. Demonstrated adept problem-solving skills and self-reliance by identifying
and rectifying prevalent issues in both VirtualBox and Nebula.
