ABS Restore After Battery Failure
Purpose:
To restore absolute home position on a MR-J2 drive after losing home position due to battery
failure
Overview:
Please make sure NOT to move the axis in question no matter what position it is in, if you do
so the absolute position restore button will not work and you will have to do a longer and harder
procedure. This procedure will clear Z70 and Z71 alarms. This procedure will go through the steps in
the MR-J2 software to restore the home position.
Tools Needed:
• MR-J2 software which should be pre-loaded on hard drive
Instructions:
I. Restore Home Position After Battery Failure
A. Replace the battery with Mitsubishi part number C52012. Battery is located under the flip
cover by the LED display on the drive.
B. Open MR-J2 software.
1. Click on Windows Start button in lower left hand corner of the screen.
2. Click on Programs,
3. Click on MR-J2-CT M6 Setup S_W.
4. Click on MR-J2-CT M6 Setup S_W.

C. Click on Setup Axis on menu bar.
D. Click on Axis Select.
E. Click on axis that needs to have home position restored.
F. Click on Parameter on menu bar.
G. Click on All Read.
H. It will ask maintenance all parameters will be read, is this ok. Click OK.
I. Click on ABS Pos. Repair button. (Button normally is red. If button does not work you must do
the long procedure to set home position.)

J. It will ask if you want to restore the absolute position data. Click OK.
K. If you receive an error that the data protect signal is on do step L. Otherwise go to step M.
L. Click on Test Operation
1. You will receive this message.
2. Click on OK. (Do not exit out of the test operation box. Leave it open.)
3. Click on Parameter on menu bar.
4. Click on ABS Pos. Repair button.
5. It will ask you if you want to restore the absolute position data.
6. Click OK.
M. You will get the message the absolute data has been written successfully.
N. Close MR-J2 software.
O. Power Off the control.
P. Power Off/On the breaker.
Q. Power On the control. Home position should be set and drive should have no Z70 or Z71
alarms.
Appendix:
If after you are done you are still getting alarm AL 01 n1 01 you do not need to worry. This
alarm comes and goes when you command the axis in question to move.
