CLASSICAL PERIOD (1750-1828)
• This period was a significant period in the development of orchestration. It is
distinguished by its unique form and symmetry and the development of
instrumental music. Some famous composition some might still know today from
this period are Eine kleine Nachtmusik-Mozart, Fur Elise-Beethoven, and The
Four Seasons-Vivaldi.
Its characteristics are:
• Has shorter and less complex melodies
• Thinner textures
• Largely homophonic
• Greater variety of sections
• Harpsichord replaced by piano
