explanation of Assertion(A)
(C) Assertion(A) is True but the Reason(R) is False.
(D) Assertion(A) is false but Reason(R) is true

Assertion(A): Opportunity cost is the cost of the next best alternative foregone.

Reason(R): The opportunity cost of building airport terminal is the public housing for
low-income families that the same government funds could have been used for.

6. The causes of economic problem include:

“Gravity holding us on earth.”
Ans: Not scarce as it is free.

11. Explain any three features of Statistics in the plural sense. (3)
Aggregate of facts
Affected by multiplicity of causes
Numerically expressed
Enumerated or estimated with reasonable amount of accuracy
Collected for a pre-determined purpose
Placed in relation to each other
Collected in a systematic manner

12. Draw a transformation curve, given the following possibilities of production (resources and
technology remaining constant). Also, find the marginal opportunity cost when more and more
Guns are produced in place of Bread. (3)

Guns(Units) 0 1 2 3 4 5
Bread (Units) 30 28 24 18 10 0

1 28 2/1=2
2 24 4/1=4
3 18 6/1=6
4 10 8/1=8
5 0 10/1=10

13. Using a diagram explain what will happen to the PPC of Karnataka if the river Kaveri causes
widespread floods
Ans: Explain leftward shift in PPC. (4)
14. Read the following passage and answer the following questions:

The data collected from primary sources are raw or unclassified. Once the data are collected the
next step is to classify them for further statistical analysis. 'Classification' brings order to raw data
which can be classified through the frequency distribution in a comprehensive manner. Once you
know the techniques of classification, you can easily construct a frequency distribution, both for
the continuous and discrete variable. A continuous variable can take any numerical value, e.g.,
height, weight etc. whereas a discrete variable can take only certain value, e.g., number of
children, number of chairs etc.
(a) Explain how does classification of data brings order to raw data. (2)
(b) Distinguish between primary and secondary data. Give an example of each. (2)
