(As per information available on V.T.U website vide VTU Circular No. VTU/Exam/2001-2002/2469 dt 05/06/2002)
1. Project reports should be typed neatly only on one side of the paper with 1.5 line spacing
on a A4 size Bond Paper (210 x 297 mm). Report must be hard-bound with plastic cover.
2. Margins: Left:- 1.25″ Right:- 1″ Top:- 0.75″ Bottom:- 0.75″
3. Total number of copies of report to be prepared:
• 1 college copy.
• 1 copy for the guide.
• 1 copy to each candidate
4. Before taking the final printout, approval of the concerned guide(s) is mandatory and
suggested corrections, if any, must be incorporated.
5. Every copy of the report must contain:
• Outer title page/cover: Cream color with plastic cover.
• Inner title page: White bond sheet
• Certification from college (Refer to the given format)
• Declaration (Refer to the given format)
• Abstract (synopsis) not exceeding 100 words, indicating salient features of the work.
6. Organization of the report:
• Inner title page.
• Certificate.
• Declaration.
• Abstract / synopsis
Numbered in Roman
• Acknowledgement.
• Table of contents.
• List of tables.
• List of figures.
• Chapters (containing Introduction & Main body of report)
• References.
7. Chapters (to be numbered in Arabic as 1, 2 etc.): Introduction usually specifies scope of
work, its importance, relation to previous work and the present developments. Main body
of the report must be divided appropriately into chapters, sections & subsections.
8. Chapters, sections and subsections may be numbered in the decimal form. E.g.:
Chapter 2, Sections as 2.1, 2.2 etc., and sub sections as 2.2.1, 2.2.2 etc.
9. Font size (refer to the example in next page)
10. Figures and Tables must be numbered chapter-wise. E.g., 2.1 Block Diagram of … Table
3.1 Primitive Flow… table. All figures and tables are to be placed either at the top or
bottom of the page and should appear in the same page or the next page in which they are
referred first.

11. Last chapter should contain Summary of the work carried out, their utility along with
scope for further work.
12. Reference: References should be number serially in the order of occurrence in the text and
their numbers should be indicated in square brackets. E.g.: [1].
Section of Reference should list them in serial order in the following format:

13. Equations must be numbered chapter-wise in decimal form and equation numbers must be
right justified.
