ACTIVITY 2: COMMUNICATION CRUNCH

Step 1:
-Group the class into small groups consisting 4-5
member.
-Give each group specific media clip to analyze.
Media clips content:
1. News report about

Step 2:
-Tell the learners to analyze the media clip assign to
them about how the communication happened.
Particulary the following:
a. Who gave the message?
b. Who received the message?
c. What is the message being conveyed?
d. What is used to convey the message?

Step 3
- Give them 10 minutes to watch, analyze,
and discuss the media clip.

ACTIVIY 3: HUDDLE THE HURDLES

Step 1:
- Based from the previous activity, remaining
the groups created, let them observe and
discuss the challenges or hurdles seen in
communication in the media clip.
Step 2:
- Based from the hurdles observed, let them
create a solution.
Step 3:
- After that, let them share the hurdles and
solution in front of the class.

A. It is a representation of the communication process, ideas, thoughts,
or concepts through diagrams, etc. They can be considered to be
systematic representations of the process that help us understand
how communication can be carried out.

I. Linear Communication
- It is a one way process (sender to receiver)
- It is used to communicate with the mass.
- It typically don't consider any feedback.
- The message signal is encoded and transmitted through channel in
presence of noise
Examples: newspapers or print materials, radio, and television.

Linear Communication Models


A. Aristotle’s Model
- First model of communication.
- It is mainly focused on speaker and speech. (speaker-centered)
- This model was created for the purpose of understanding how to
become a more effective and persuasive communicator.

B. Lasswell’s Model
- Also known as “action model”
- Process of communication and its function to society.
- Three functions for communication:
1. Surveillance of the environment
2. Correlation of components of society
3. transmission between generation

C. Berlo’s Model
- SMCR refers to Sender-Message-Channel-Receiver

II. Transactional Model


-Is the exchange of messages between sender and receiver where each
take turns to send or receive messages. 
- Both sender and receiver are known as communicators. 
- It is mostly used for interpersonal communication and is also called
circular model of communication.

III. Interactive Model


- Also known as “convergence model” 
- Deals with exchange of ideas and messages taking place both ways from
sender to receiver and vice-versa.

It could be through social media, text messages, phone calls, or face-to-face
conversations.
- Write down 5-7 examples of how you communicate with others.
- Next to each example, identify the models of communication that is
being served.
- Reflect on why you chose each model for each example. How does it
relate to your real life usual conversations?

ACTIVITY 2: WHO IS WHAT


WEEKLY LEARNING PLAN
- Look for someone you can converse with. It could be a friend, family
member, or teacher.
- Choose one founder of the models of Communication and try making
a conversation with your chosen someone and act like you are the
founder.
- Make sure to act like one and apply how they are as a person and
explain to them the Model of Communication that you have chosen.

Completion of examples (3 points)


- Did the student provide 5-7 examples of how they communicate with
others?
Identification of models (4 points)
- Did the student correctly identify the models of communication for
each example?
- Is the identification of models clear and concise?
Relation and connection (3 points)
- Did the student relate on why they chose each purpose for each
example?
- Is the reflection meaningful and connected to the student's idea in
models of communications?
