Q.No. 1. Find out th e heating surface of Boiler having 150 Tubes Viith 9 Meter length
and 100 mm Dia . 1h Portion of Drum transfer the hea t wh ose dia is 1.2 Meter
and 10 Mete r length. D~um & Header is connected with down comer & riser
having 1.5 meter and 10 meter length and 100 mm dia. 10 Nos. down comer
and 10 Nos. riser are fitted in boiler.

Q.No. 2. Find th e efficiency of single riveted lap joint having 6 mm t U ck plate. Dia of
rivet is 2cm, pitch of rivets Scm. Tensile stress of pla te = 1200 Kg/cm 2
Sharing stress of rivets = 900 Kg/crn 2
Crushing stress of rivets = 1800 i( g/cm 2

Q.No. 3. Find the indicated horse power of singl e cylinder double act ing steam engine.
Dia of cylinder is 250mm, len9th of stroke 450mm and RPM ] 00. Dia of
piston rod 50rnm. 2.5 Kg/cm 2 and 2.75 Kg/cm 2 pressure is actinq on cover
end and crank end respectively.

Q.N o. 4. 760 x 1000 mm water leg of a boiler is fitted with 2.5 em dia stays. Depth of
stay thread is 2.5mm. Take safe stress 528 Kg/cm 2 • Boiler w orking pressure
is ~ 2.} !S_g/cm 2 • Find th~ n_ujJ\ber of stay bolts fitted .

Q. No . 5. (a) Find the molecular volume oF perfect Gas on GOO KPA with 30° centigrade
te mperature .·
(b) 314 Portion of vertical tank of size 256cm dia and 6000mm height is filled with
water. Find the weight of water.
