This manual is only a manual for the Max4Live device. For questions about Ableton or
Strymon BigSky, please review their manuals.

1. Introduction
Thank you for purchasing or considering the purchase or ‘Strymon BigSky CTRLR by
MonkeyProofM4L’. Our CTRLR is a Max4Live device that interact with the hardware unit
of Strymon’s BigSky reverb pedal. The CTRLR allows you to save device settings in your
Ableton liveset, allows the device to be controlled from the hardware device itself,
supports automation and general parameters can be controlled from Ableton’s Push 2.

Always check if you have the latest version of Strymon BigSky CTRLR to ensure to have
the latest updates and features. The download package should contain:

2. Requirements:
- Ableton Live 11 Suite
- Strymon Bigsky
- Working MIDI connection between Ableton and Strymon BigSky

3. Installation
Copy ‘Strymon BigSky CTRLR by MonkeyProofM4L v1.0.amxd’ to a location which you can
access from Ableton. This might be the Ableton ‘Max for Live’ folder or a custom folder
added to ‘places’. Once the amxd file is accessible in Ableton, you can drag and drop in
into a midi channel.

4. Setup
To make sure that CTRLR works properly within your Ableton liveset, ensure to place it on
a midi channel with the correct
midi device and channel selected.
Also make sure monitor is set to ‘In’
to accept incoming MIDI messages.
Once the communication has been
established, you can control your
Strymon BigSky with parameter automation from the Strymon BigSky CTRLR and you can
control the Strymon BigSky CTRLR from your Strymon BigSky hardware device.

Note: Upon loading the Strymon BigSky CTRLR on your channel with the midi channels set
properly, the actual parameters will automatically be sent to the hardware device.

5. Saving presets
Strymon BigSky CTRLR doesn’t support saving presets directly (yet ), but by clicking
the save button on the device, you save an Ableton device preset (ADV-file). This file
allows you to re-use preset in different project or to exchange them.
