1. What is network and what is the use of network?
Network is the interconnection between multiple devices. Network allows to send and receive
data and information between different connected devices.
There are multiple uses of network including:
Communication: Computer networks enable individuals and organizations to
communicate with each other using various methods such as email, messaging, and video
conferencing.
Resource sharing: Networks allow users to share resources such as printers, scanners, and
files, which can improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Remote access: Networks enable users to access information and resources from
anywhere in the world, providing greater flexibility and convenience.
Collaboration: Networks facilitate collaboration by enabling users to work together on
projects, share ideas, and provide feedback in real time.
E-commerce: Computer networks are used extensively in e-commerce, enabling
businesses to sell products and services online and process payments securely.
Education: Networks are used in educational institutions to facilitate distance learning,
provide access to educational resources, and enable collaboration among students and
teachers.
Entertainment: Networks are used for entertainment purposes such as online gaming,
streaming movies and music, and social media.
2. computers communicate with each others What are the three elements to
share define briefly?
The Network allows computers to connect and communicate with different computers via any
medium. LAN, MAN, and WAN are the three major types of networks designed to operate over
the area they cover. There are some similarities and dissimilarities between them. One of the
major differences is the geographical area they cover, i.e.
LAN covers the smallest area, MAN covers an area larger than LAN and WAN comprises the
largest of all. communicate with each other using various methods such as email, messaging, and
video conferencing.
A switch is a device that allows us to connect multiple computers together. A router is a device
that connects a local area network to the internet. A firewall is a device that allows or denies
traffic onto a network.
3. What are the types of network based on area coverage define each briefly ?
Personal Area Network (PAN)-
PAN is a personal area network having an interconnection of personal technology devices
to communicate over a short distance. It covers only less than 10 meters or 33 feet of area. PAN
has fewer users as compared to other networks such as LAN, WAN, etc. PAN typically uses
some form of wireless technology. PAN involves the transmission of data between information
devices such as smartphones, personal computers, tablet computers, etc.
A Local Area Network (LAN) is a group of connected devices that are in a limited area
such as a school, office, building, or home. It is a network mostly used for sharing
hardware resources such as printers, files, scanners, etc. If we talk about the simplest
LAN network then we will consider a computer and a printer connected in a home as the
simplest network. The data transmission speed of the LAN is up to 10 Mbps.
MAN (Metropolitan Area Network)
A Metropolitan Area Network or MAN is a network connecting devices across an entire
town, entire city, or any other small region. This is a network larger than LAN but smaller than
the WAN. WAN stands for Wide Area Network which is used to connect devices geographically
such as across the country or continent. MAN network works between LAN and WAN. MAN
can be used to connect multiple LAN networks. When one LAN uses modems, direct digit
devices, and any other media types to connect with other LAN, then it covers a large area which
is considered a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN).
WAN (Wide Area Network)
WAN stands for Wide Area Network is a type of computer network which can cover a
large geographical area such as a continent, or a country. The size of the WAN network is larger
than the LAN and MAN network. When the size of the network grows more than the MAN then
it is considered a WAN. Usually, telecommunication networks are considered a Wide Area
Network. WAN Network could be an interconnection between two or more LANs that are
connected through telephone lines or radio waves.
4. What are the Ethernet cabling color code define each briefly?
An Ethernet cable is a network cable used for high-speed wired network connections
between two devices. This network cable is made of four-pair cable, which is consists of twisted
pair conductors. It is used for data transmission at both ends of the cable, which is called RJ45
connector. These wires are grouped in four pairs. Each pair consist of two twisted wires. The first
wire has a single color-coded plastic coating while the other wire has that color plus white color
striped plastic coating. For example, for the brown wire pair, one wire’s coating is all brown,
while the other wire’s coating is brown-and-white striped.
Here is the color code table for the T568A standard:
Pi
Wire Color Signal Description
n
1 white/Green TX1+ Transmit +
2 Green TX1- Transmit –
3 White/Orange RX+ Receive +
4 Blue TX2+ Bi-Directional Transmit +
5 White/Blue TX2- Bi-Directional Transmit –
6 Orange RX- Receive –
7 White/Brown TX3+ Bi-Directional Transmit +
8 Brown TX3- Bi-Directional Transmit –
5. What are the color code of cross over and Straight-Through color code?
Ethernet straight-through cable: is a type of CAT5 with RJ-45 connectors at each end, and
each has the same pin out. It is in accordance with either the T568A or T568B standards.
The following table lists the wire positions of the straight-through cable on both sides.

Ethernet cross-over cable: is a type of CAT 5 where one end isT568A configuration and
the other end as T568BConfiguration. In this type of cable connection, Pin 1 is crossed
with Pin 3, and Pin 2 is crossed with Pin 6.
The following table lists the wire positions of the cross-over cable on both sides.
