distance s is:

a) b)

c) d)

7. Assertion (A): A body may have constant speed by variable velocity. [1]
Reason (R): Speed is a scalar quantity but velocity is a vector quantity.

a) Both A and R are true and R is the correct b) Both A and R are true but R is not the
explanation of A. correct explanation of A.

c) A is true but R is false. d) A is false but R is true.

8. Assertion (A): For uniform motion, velocity is the same as the average velocity at all instants. [1]
Reason (R): In uniform motion along a straight line, the object covers equal distances in equal intervals of time.

c) Average velocity for the motion between A d) At C, the velocity and the acceleration
and D is positive. vanish.
Section B
10. Derive v = u + at, from velocity-time graph. [2]
11. The distance x of a particle moving in one dimension, under the action of a constant force is related to time t by [2]

the equation, t = √x + 3, where x is in metres and t in seconds. Find the displacement of the particle when its
velocity is zero.
12. The velocity-time graph of an object moving along a straight line is as shown in Figure. Find the net distance [2]
covered by the object in the time intervals between t = 0 to t = 10 s. Also, find the displacement in time 0 to 10 s.

Question No. 17 to 20 are based on the given text. Read the text carefully and answer the questions: [4]
2 friends started for a picnic spot, in two different cars. A drove his car at a constant velocity 60 km/h. B drove his car
at a constant velocity 50 km/h.
The velocity of B relative to A is vB- vA
Similarly, the velocity of object A relative to object B is vA-vB

Their friend C was supposed to wait at a point on the road for a lift. Both of them forgot to pick up C. A and B reached
the picnic spot within 2 hours and 2 hours 24 minutes respectively.
17. What was the velocity of B relative to A?
18. What is the velocity of A relative to B?
19. What are the velocities of A and B relative to C?
20. Draw the Velocity vs. time plot for A?
Section E
21. A man is standing on the top of building 100 m high. He throws two balls vertically, One at t=0 and other after a [5]
time interval (less than 2 seconds). The later ball is thrown at a velocity of half the first. The vertical gap
between first and second ball is + 15 m at t = 2s. The gap is found to remain constant. Calculate the velocity with
which balls were thrown and the exact time interval between their throw.
