CLOUD
"The cloud" refers to servers that are accessed over the
Internet, and the software and databases that run on
those servers.

Cloud servers are located in data centers all over the

world. By using cloud computing, users and companies
do not have to manage physical servers themselves or
run software applications on their own machines.

Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing Architecture
Cloud Computing Architecture comprises of many cloud
components, each of them are loosely coupled. We can
broadly divide the cloud architecture into two parts:

Front End: Front End refers to the client part of the

computing system. It consist of interfaces and
applications that are required to access the computing
platforms. Example: Web Browser

Back End: Back End refers to the cloud itself. It consist of

all the resources required to provide cloud computing
services. It comprises of huge Data Storage, Virtual
Machines, Security Mechanism, Services, Deployment
Models, and Servers etc

Deployment models of Cloud
Deployment is the mechanism through which applications, modules, updates, and patches are delivered
from developers to users.
The Salesforce cloud deployment model specifies the specific type of cloud environment to be utilized
based on ownership, size, access, and the nature and purpose of a cloud environment.

Deployment Models of Cloud define the type of access to the cloud, i.e. how the cloud is located?
There are 4 types of deployment models of cloud computing namely:

16-03-2024 NEHA KANDULA 5

Public Cloud Model: The Public Cloud
Model allows systems and services to be
easily accessible to general public.

Example: Google AppEngine, Amazon

EC2.

Private Cloud Model: The Private Cloud

Model allows systems and services to be
accessible within an organization. It is
operated only within a single
organization. However, it may be
managed internally or by third-party.

Community Cloud Model: The Community
Cloud Model allows systems and services
to be accessible by a group of
organizations. It shares the infrastructure
between several organizations from a
specific community. It may be managed
internally or by the third-party.

Hybrid Cloud Model: The Hybrid Cloud

Model is a mixture of Public Cloud and
Private Cloud. Non-critical activities are
performed using the public cloud while
the critical activities are performed using
private cloud.

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provides access to fundamental resources such as
Physical Machines, Virtual Machines, and Storage etc.

All of the above resources are made available to the end user via server virtualization.
Moreover, these resources are accessed by the customers as if they own them.

Characteristics:

● Virtual machines with pre-installed software.

● Virtual machines with pre-installed operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and
Solaris.
● On-demand availability of resources.
● The computing resources can be easily scaled up and down.

Platform as a Service (PaaS)
Platform as a Service (PaaS) offers the run time environment for applications. It also offers development &
deployment tools, required to develop applications.

PaaS has a feature of point-and-click tools that enables non-developers to create web applications.
Force.com platform is an example of PaaS in salesforce.

Characteristics:
● PaaS offers a browser based development environment. It allows the developer to create a database and
edit the application code either via Application Programming Interface or Point-and-Click tools.
● PaaS provides built-in security, scalability, and web service interfaces.
● PaaS also provides web service interfaces that allow us to connect the applications outside the platform.

Software as a Service (SaaS)

Software as a Service (SaaS) makes the software available over the internet. This model allows software
applications as a service to the end users. It refers to a software that is deployed on a hosted service and is
accessible via the internet.

There are several SaaS applications such as Billing and Invoicing System, Customer Relationship Management
(CRM) applications, Help Desk Applications, Human Resource (HR) Solutions.

Characteristics:
● Available on demand.
● The software is are maintained by the vendor rather than where they are running and hence making it cost
effective.
● The license to the software may be subscription based or usage based and it is billed on recurring basis.
● Scaled up or down on demand.
● automatically upgraded and updated.
● SaaS offers a Shared Data Model.
● All users are running the same version of the software

Multi-Tenant Cloud
DEFINITION: Multi-tenancy means that a single instance of the software, database, and supporting infrastructure
serves multiple customers, while each tenant's data is isolated and remains invisible to other tenants.

Salesforce is a multi-tenant platform. This

means that like an office building that
Your dedicated space shares services like water, security,

CRM
CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management. It is a process or methodology used to learn more about customer’s needs
and behaviors in order to develop stronger relationships with them.

This technology allows users to manage relationships with their customers and track data related to all of their interactions.
It also helps teams collaborate, both internally and externally, gather insights from social media, track important metrics,
and communicate via Email, Phone, Social, and other channels.

The more useful way to think about CRM is as a process that will help bring together lots of pieces of information
about customers, sales, marketing effectiveness, responsiveness and market trends.

Benefits of CRM: • Discover new customers

• Increase customer revenues
• Provide better customer services
• Sell products more effectively
• Help sales staff close deals faster
• Make call centers work more efficient
• Simplify marketing and sales processes`

Why Salesforce
The first benefit of choosing Salesforce is that
we do not need to install any software to build
an application or run our business activities.
We can focus on building the apps instead of
installing, setup, repairing, etc.

Since it is the cloud-based CRM platform, any

user can access it from anywhere using the
internet.
Any new user or business start-up can choose Salesforce for building apps or run business, as it is so affordable with
lots of capabilities.

One can easily integrate the Salesforce with any third-party applications, such as Gmail, which is much easier than
other CRM Software.

It is the world's number 1 CRM software, as it is easy to use, fast to deploy any app, and provide efficient outputs as
per the requirements.

The development cost is also very less.

API = application programming interface. It’s a way to connect one software system to another.
In our case, we’re talking about Web API’s, to be specific. Salesforce API’s allow developers to
write programs to (for example) import/export data. You can say that API’s tell programmers
how to code in order to interact with Salesforce Orgs. In general, API’s allow communication
between different software systems, for example: Web
