Abstract
Single crystal of Glycine Cupric Sulphate has been successfully grown from solution by slow evaporation method
ambient at temperature. Blue colour and transparent crystal were obtained. Solubility of the sample was carried out. The
grown crystals have been subjected to UV and Micro hardness analysis. The transmittance of the crystal was
determined by UV spectrum. The hardness nature of the crystal was obtained by Vickers hardness test.

1.Introduction
Semi-organic materials have attracted attention
due to their incorporated advantages of both organic and
inorganic crystals. The good single crystals of those
materials are very essential for a variety of scientific and
commercial purpose.Glycine is the simplest amino acid
among the proteinogenic amino acids in that it is not
chiral. It is a very good material to prepare large number
of semi-organic crystals due to its capability of forming
compounds with anionic, cationic and neutral chemical
compounds. In the present investigation glycine copper
sulphate crystals were grown by slow evaporation
solution growth technique.

2.Experimental
In the present investigation Glycine Copper
Sulphate (GC) crystals are synthesized according to the
following chemical reaction by dissolving glycine and
copper sulphate pentahydrate in the double distilled
water in 1:1 ratio. The solutions were constantly stirred
for about an hour using a hot plate magnetic stirrer at
room temperature (32°C) and were filtered using filter
papers. Then the filtered solutions were kept in a beaker Figure 1. GC Crystal
covered with porous papers and kept in a dust — free
atmosphere. During the growth, very small crystals
appeared at first which then grew bigger on slow
evaporation. After 15-20 days, the crystals were grown.

3. Results and Discussion

. 3.1 Measurement of Solubility

The solubility of the crystal of GC was measured in the

temperature range 30-50°C.The solubility curve indicates
the GC crystal has positive temperature coefficient of
solubility and it shows three regions viz.
