Notes:
1. The drills of the crew shall take place within 24h of the ship leaving port if more than 25% of the crew have not participated in abandon ship and fire drill on that particular ship in the
previous month. (For JG flag vessels: drills on damage control and rescue boat must be added to the above).
2. When a ship enters service for the first time or after modification of its major parts such as hull, engine plant, lifesaving appliances, and fire protection/firefighting appliances, “Abandon
Ship” drill and “Fire drill” must be conducted before leaving port.
3. Each lifeboat and rescue boat (except dedicated rescue boats) must be launched and maneuvered on the water at least once every 3 months. The 3 months shall count from the date of
previous drill. It is not required to man the lifeboats from its stowed position, during lowering/hoisting.
4. Rescue boat launching and maneuvering, with assigned crew members, and training on emergency operation on vessels having dedicated rescue boat, shall be basically done every month
(if not practicable at some occasion the interval however shall not exceed 3 months)
5. If free fall lifeboat, it shall be operated in the water at intervals not exceeding three months and shall be launched by either the free-fall method or simulated free fall at least every six
months.
6. When the C/E and/or 1AE is replaced at a port, practice on the operation of the main engine from machine side must be conducted at the earliest opportunity. C/E shall train BTM on
procedures of “Crash astern”.
7. Every item required by “Basic Training and Familiarization Training” stipulated in Chapter VI of STCW95 must be included, if necessary, into the training items mentioned above.
8. The monthly column shall include the planned date of drill/training at the top and actual date of completion at the bottom.
9. Abandon ship, Fire, Damage Control and Training shall be conducted every month covering the scenario given in drill schedule.
10. Various locations and scenarios shall be used for training to cover all possible emergencies. E/Room fire drill shall be conducted every 3 months covering fire at various location in engine
room e.g. generator, purifier room, scavenge space, Boiler platform, incinerator etc.
11. Various applicable scenarios of oil spill (as per vessel type) e.g. Leak during bunkering & cargo operation, Transferring, Bursting of Hose, Cargo leak to ballast tanks & inerting of ballast
tanks (only for tankers), etc shall be used.
12. At the beginning of every Quarter, updated record of Drill shall be sent to Company by filling up the Drill Schedule.
