What is the student learning goal(s) for this lesson idea?

The student learning goal is to understand the stages of the life cycle of a butterfly as well as share
with the teacher and peers about what they know and what they

How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

X Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the
student and mostly practice based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic
of learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The
teacher facilitates the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☐ Problem-based (Real world problems) and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems
and completing projects to demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared
outside of the classroom. (Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the
school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another
class, or publishing it via an outside source.)

Lesson idea implementation:

This lesson plan will be completed in a classroom setting but can also be completed at home if
needed. Students will follow the directions of the Padlet and the teacher will walk around the
classroom and help students when needed. Students can work together by using videos and
questions as an introduction in the lesson. Students can review what they already know about a
topic like butterflies. Students will be assessed using a tool called Blooket to check students'

knowledge about butterflies. The lesson will then be concluded by students sharing what they
learned either with their table or through a response in Padlet.

Managing student learning:

When this lesson is done in class, I would set timers for students to see how long each step/ activity
should take. I would also implement co-engagement to keep students engaged by doing the
activities with a small group that the teacher will check on sporadically. Students will also use
metacognitive checks at the beginning and at the end of the lesson to share what they know and
share what they learned.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL):
Engagement will be supported through students working together and fun, hands-on activities which
keep students more engaged. The teacher will also be there to keep students on task.
Reflective Practice:
Yes, I believe students can get a more enriching lesson using the many tools provided on the internet
because it keeps students interested. I look forward to implementing the Padlet tool to develop fun
lesson plans that students can easily follow.
