LATEX BASED WATERPROOFING SLURRY FOR USE ON CEMENTITIOUS SUBSTRATES

METHOD STATEMENT : MegaCast 401

1. PREPARATION:

1.1. Concrete surfaces to which MegaCast 401 is to be applied must be free of dust and standing water.

1.2. Remove oil, grease, curing compounds, paint, water repellents, polymer modified render.

1.3. Remove all laitence to leave a lightly textured open surface.

1.4. Honeycombing shall be cut out and repaired with MegaPlug which is applied onto MegaCast 401

1.5. Live water leaks shall be sealed with MegaPlug

2. MIXING: (MegaCast 401 Slurry)

2.1. MegaCast 401 is liquid and to be mixed 1 part of MasterCast 401 to 2 ½ to 3 parts of OPC cement.

2.2. Mix to a smooth, creamy paste.

3. APPLICATION:

3.1. The surface to which the MegaCast 401 is to be applied must be damp, preferably in a saturated but
surface dry condition, with no standing or running water on the surface.

3.2. Apply by brush to the damp substrate at the rate of 0.5kg/m².

3.3. When the first coat is firm but still green, apply a second coat at right angles to the first at the rate of
0.5kg/m².

4. CURING:

4.1. If the MegaCast 401has been applied in a situation where it may dry rapidly following application, wet
curing is required.

4.2. Keep the MegaCast 401 damp for not less than 3 days by fog spraying with water and covering with
polythene sheet.

4.3. Do not use curing compounds to cure MegaCast 401.

5. FINISHING:

5.1. After MegaCast 401 is cured any finishing material can be applied.

6. TESTING:

6.1 Once the base coat is protected, the coating should be tested for leakage by water ponding test for 48
hours. If no leakage is observed, then we can proceed with finishing materials.

6.2 If a leakage is found then a remedial work shall be carried out and the same test method shall be applied
until the leakage is stopped.
