Dear Sir

Subject: Notification of the INMARSAT-6-28W Satellite Network

Reference: CR/C/4703, IFIC 2875 dated 24.07.18

We are in the process of notifying the INMARSAT-6-28W satellite network and note that
coordination remains outstanding with your Administration in the Ka band with respect to the
following network identified under AP30A#7.1.

Satellite Network Provision Orbital Location Orbital Separation from

(degrees) INMARSAT-6-28W
(degrees)
BFA10700 AP30A#7.1 -30 2

The results of our analysis in the attached Annex show that, for this AP30A#7.1 case, the potential
interference from the downlink emissions of the INMARSAT-6-28W satellite network is significantly
below the required 6% I/N criterion. We would therefore like to propose to your Administration to
consider coordination between the INMARSAT-6-28W satellite network and the above-referenced
BFA10700 network as complete under AP30A#7.1.

We would appreciate if you could confirm whether this proposal is acceptable to you.

Yours sincerely

Callum Gray

ANNEX

Interference Analysis AP30A#7.1 Case

Interference from FSS downlink into BSS feeder uplink (Satellite to Satellite)

Wanted system BFA10700

Nominal sat. location 30 deg. W
E/W station keeping 0.1 (+/-)
Frequency 17.75 GHz
Direction uplink
Wanted satellite antenna rx gain (peak) 42.26 dBi
System temperature 600 K

Interfering system INM-6-28W

Nominal sat. location 28 deg. W
E/W station keeping 0.05 (+/-)
Frequency 17.75 GHz
Direction downlink
Maximum EIRP density (17.7-17.8 GHz) -16.0 dBW/Hz
Interferer tx gain isolation (min) 41 dB
Interfering satellite antenna Tx gain (sidelobe) 0
EIRP density transmitted towards the wanted sat. -57.0 dBW/Hz
Sat. longitude difference 2.00 deg.
Sat. longitude difference (incl. st. keeping) 1.85 deg.
Satellite distance (minimum, approx.) 1361.4 km
Free space loss 180.1 dB

Wanted rx gain isolation (min) 24.56 dB

Wanted satellite antenna rx gain (sidelobe) 17.7 dB
PFD at the receiving antenna of the wanted satellite -123.0 dBW/m2/100kHz
I -219.4 dBW/Hz
N -200.8 dBW/Hz
I/N -18.6 dB

From the above table it can be seen that the potential interference from the down link emissions of
the INMARSAT-6-28W satellite network is significantly below the required 6% I/N criterion.
