Questions 21 – 25
Read the article about these children’s favourite classroom games and then answer the questions.

For questions 21 – 25 circle A, B or C.

Classroom games
Rachel (9)
My favourite game is ‘Who’s this?’ The teacher puts different things in a
bin. We often play it in English lessons. Last time, there was an empty cat
food tin, a lady’s glove, some chocolate bar paper and an email. In groups,
we talked for two minutes about the person who put these in the bin. Then
we quickly wrote short stories about her (and her cat) on the computers.

Becky (10)
We played ‘Find it’ once. Each group got some postcards with messages and
pictures of famous places on. Then, in pairs, we all had to get up and go and
look on the computer to find the name of the place and its country. It was
great because I worked with Jo, who’s really fast at finding things! We
won!

Alex (8)
My favourite game is called ‘In the Jungle’. We’ve played it twice in our
sports lessons. We are in the jungle with wild animals and the teacher tells
us to do different things like jump very quickly over the river or talk to
the monkeys. I like it because it’s fast and we don’t have to sit still. When
I’m at home I like finding answers to my questions about jungle animals on
the internet.

Questions 26 – 30
Read the article about a famous author called Brenda Fox, and then answer the questions.

For questions 26 – 30 circle A, B or C.

An interview with Brenda Fox by Griselda Wright (Aged 10)

Brenda Fox has written twenty-four books, fourteen for children and

ten for adults. Last week she visited our school and read to class 8.

We asked her these questions afterwards:

Where do you get your ideas from?

Not from reading other books or talking to people. I go for long

walks. When I do that, ideas come into my head very quickly.
Did you always dream of being a writer?

Not really. I wasn’t good at English at school. Dad wanted me to be a doctor, but my
dream was to be a dancer. It’s strange that I’m a famous writer now!
Did you like reading when you were a child?

Well, my friend used to lend me her comics. I loved reading those. My sister enjoyed
longer stories, but they didn’t interest me. I had to read parts of the newspaper to my
grandmother sometimes, but I didn’t enjoy that!
What do you do when you aren’t writing?

I’d like to learn to play the guitar one day, but I don’t have much free time. When I do, I
like playing with my two young sons. My husband is a cook, so I don’t even have to make
the dinner at home! I’m very lucky!
