REMEMBER
KEY POINTS
During infancy (approximately birth to 2 years), the focus is on physical, sen-
sorimotor, and social developmental tasks. Infants are expected to master mo-
tor tasks, such as grasping and hand-to-hand transfer.
During adolescence young people will negotiate puberty and the completion of
growth, take on sexually dimorphic body shape, develop new cognitive skills
(including abstract thinking capacities), develop a clearer sense of personal and
sexual identity, and develop a degree of emotional, personal, and financial.
There are a variety of social changes that may occur as we enter late life, includ-
ing change in work status or loss of spouse and other significant others. ... Retire-
ment also brings a shifting of roles within the home and social system. Many older
adults are in long-term marriages.
We must learn to appreciate and love ourselves. We accept everything about us.
We use our strengths to excel and shine from others. `
