Grammar
不过(bùguò)
Indicates a change or reversal, but has a lighter tone than 但是 (dànshì). It's more
often used in spoken Chinese.
NOTE: 不过 (bùguò) can also be used as an adverb, meaning "only" and similar to
the meaning of 仅仅 (jǐnjǐn).
Sample Sentences
我见过他，不过我不知道他的名字。
(I have seen him before, but I don't know his name.)
那里很漂亮，不过太远了。
(It's beautiful there, but it's too far away.)
我很想去，不过我明天有事。
(I'd really like to go, but I'm busy tomorrow.)

毕竟 (bìjìng)
毕竟 (bìjìng), or "after all," meaning, "in the final analysis." 毕竟 (bìjìng) is used to
emphasize a fact or a reason, and often implies disagreement with others'
conclusions.
Sample Sentences
他毕竟是个孩子，不懂事，你就别生气了。
(He's a child, after all. He doesn't really know how things work. Don't be angry at
him.)
结婚毕竟是件大事，要考虑清楚。
(After all, getting married is a big deal. You need to think it over carefully.)
他毕竟刚来，不了解情况，不能怪他。
(He's just arrived, after all. He doesn't understand the situation. You can't blame
him.)
