ABSTRACT

HABITS, ATTITUDES, AND ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF GRADE 10 STUDENTS
IN MATHEMATICS Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics, St. Peter’s
College, March 2022.

Adviser: Prof. EMMA A. ZALSOS

This study aimed to determine the learning styles, study habits, attitudes, and their effects
to the academic performance of Grade 10 students in Delabayan National High School S.Y.2021-
2022. The researcher employed the descriptive-correlational method to study the variables. The
participants of the study were the fifty (50) students from the said school. The researcher employed
a standardized questionnaire for data gathering which consisted of three (3) parts. Part I dealt with
students' learning styles towards mathematics. Part II dealt with students' study habits towards
mathematics. Part III dealt with students' attitudes towards mathematics. Lastly, the academic
performance of the students were the secondary data retrieved from their class advisers.

The findings revealed that students’ learning styles towards mathematics were somewhat
agree obtaining over-all mean 3.48. Students’ study habits towards mathematics were agree
obtaining over-all mean 3.5. Students’ attitudes towards mathematics were somewhat agree
obtaining over-all mean 3.35. Most of the students (30.0%) obtained a satisfactory rating. Lastly,
there is a significant relationship between academic performance and a) Learning Styles in
Mathematics; b) Study Habits in Mathematics; and c) Attitudes in Mathematics.
