Academic Reading Tutorial Scrapbook

1. Choose an academic text you used for the related literature of your feasibility study. Print out a copy of it. If you wish
to use a different academic text, you can use GoogleScholar to search for your text. Make sure that your academic text is
relevant to your feasibility study.

2. Your scrapbook must have three parts: pre-reading strategy, while reading strategy and post-reading strategy.

3. Your scrapbook has to contain the following:


a. A copy of your academic text
b. Demonstration and Description of every part:

Pre-reading Strategy
1. Determine which type of academic text you are reading.
2. Determine and establish your purpose for reading.
3. Predict or infer the main idea or argument of the text based on its title.
4. State what you already know and what you want to learn about the topic.
5. Check the publication date for relevance. (at most 5 years earlier)

Author and publication date of the text:

While-reading Strategy
Read the academic text you have chosen. Annotate the important parts of the text. Refer to your notes and to the
sample below.

Post-reading Strategy
Write a reflection paragraph (at least 10 sentences). You may use these questions as your guide.
What is the main idea of the text?
What new information or ideas did you find?
How do you think these new ideas can be helpful in your feasibility study?

Note: Just make sure that the academic text you choose will be helpful to your study, or else, you will just waste your
time.

4. Be as creative as possible when making your scrapbook. Use a short ordinary folder for your scrapbook. Use designs
that are relevant to your topic. Avoid putting so much decors in your scrapbook. Stickers and special papers will be fine.
Do not forget to label the parts of your scrapbook. If your academic text would not fit in the folder, you may fold the
text. Just be creative!

5. Include these details on the front cover of your scrapbook.

Title of the project


Title of your feasibility study (to check if your academic text is related to your study)
Your name and section
Date of Submission

7. Rubrics (50 points)

Content – 35 points
Pre-reading: 10 points
While-reading: 10 points (annotated text)
Post-reading: 15 points (includes grammar and mechanics)
Creativity and Neatness – 10 points
Promptness – 5 points
