SAMPLE ALUMINIUM LOUVRE

DATA SHEET

Figure 1: Sample Louvre CFD Testing, Velocity Contour

Sample louvre was tested in CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software to obtain its
aerodynamic performance.
CFD Simulation was used to perform a steady-state analysis to obtain credible data on this
louvre.

Six test velocities, with the fifth test velocity being at least 3 times greater than the first, were
used to obtain pressure drops at each instance. These pressure drops were then used to
calculate the Ci value for each instance and averaged out to a Cd value for the product.
These were all done according to AS4740.

SST k- SAS turbulence model was used.

• Aerodynamic Performance: Class 3

The following equation was used as per AS4740 to calculate the coefficient of discharge
using the pressure drop across the louvre.

where, = flow rate of air, m³/s

= discharge coefficient for each air velocity
A = throat area of the ventilator, m²
=air density, kg/m³
= pressure drop across louvre, Pa
