Preliminary: A Case on the Effects of TV Violence on Children

A. Identify the forms of violence in other kinds of media that you utilize and
research on the possible implications of these to the development of your
character.
 Despite of the social media emergence and its great help, it cannot be
denied, as a user that too much exposure can lead to emotional distress.
Social media is like a magazine where the picture of perfect faces,
extravagant lifestyle, and seemingly perfect lives of teenagers are printed and
showcased. It is no doubt that I see this as a ground for comparison,
insecurity, and difficulty of self-acceptance. It seems pressuring me to
conform the beauty standards that increases my anxiety and pressure. News
can also bring violence to one’s mental health, despite its great help to
disseminate information, but it streams the conflicts and catastrophes, which
in the other hand, brings me to the so-called anxiety.

2. Aristotle: Happiness as the Ultimate Purpose of Man

A. Research on the work, actions, and contributions to their communities by


world-renowned personalities which seem to suggest that their purpose is
closer to true happiness.
 I remember the story of Charice Pempengco that instilled in me until now. He
chose the different path, which is the authenticity and being himself. Despite
the confrontation of people and societal expectation, he still prioritized his
true self, being a transgender man. No one dictates his action, not career nor
the popularity. This action of him reflects the true happiness does not lie in
external validation, but it aligns with one’s purpose.

3. The Highest End and Good is Achieved by Doing One’s Function Well

A. If you become a public servant, how will you develop yourself to become a
virtuous person? Research on the best practices in government agencies
that will help you answer this.
 I will practice and embody the values and show it in my actions. I will be
honest and transparent to gain the trust and bring the positive change. It is a
duty, where putting the public in times of hardships and to improve their life.
For it to get improved, exerting effort in participating any service in our
community would be a great help. Another thing to hone my virtuous person, I
would seek any help, advices and experiences by working with experienced
public servants.
4. Moral Virtue

A. As a citizen of the Philippines, what kinds of character must I develop to


actively participate in the call for nation-building? Why are these important?
 Nationalism, cooperation, creativity, and discipline are I think that character
that must be developed to actively participate for nation building. Nationalism
make ensures the one is indeed appreciating the Filipino history, culture, and
traditions. By this, one will be recognized if he/she will truly help her home –
the Philippines. Cooperation is as well important, with unity and collective
efforts can solve a big problem currently the country is facing. More is
stronger and more effective. Another thing is the creativity. When a nation is
currently facing challenges, such as poverty, creativity will make an
innovative and effective solutions that few people can do. Lastly is the
discipline. “Great ideas are meaningless without action,” they say. It helps to
make the ideas tangible. All the plans and creative solutions will not be
nothing. These are the characters that one posses to participate in nation-
building.

5. Moral Virtue id the Middle in Between Vices

A. What is the career path that you aspire for when you graduate? Research on
three most important virtues necessary to be a moral person in your
preferred career. Also, what are the vices that you need to be mindful of?
 Transparency, confidentiality, and diligence are the most important virtues for
me to be a moral person in accounting field. Confidentiality, as well is about I
must avoid the interest from manipulating the data for the personal gain. I
should adhere the regulations about the privacy. Transparency says all about
honesty and truthfulness. It ensures the relevant information is available,
either the positive or negative aspect of the financial health of the company.
