2.CAUTIONS WHEN EXCHANGING


To prevent damage due to static electricity, do NOT touch metallic parts (connector pins,
print base, etc.) other than the frames. When there is a need to touch the print base, etc.,
please hand-touch the frame part of the MAPPS before performing operations, so that the
body and the MAPPS are kept at the same electric potential. It is effective if wristbands
with earth lines attached are used.
Please operate with the greatest care so as not to allow any chips and other minute pieces
of metal from entering.
The thread fastening torque of M3 is 5.5 [kg・cm]. Be careful not to fasten it too tightly,
nor too loosely.

3.PROCEDURES
①Open the operation panel
②Remove the connectors and the frame gland lines.

it.

Replace the ISA card (1 or 2 cards) and the ATA card in the new MAPPS
PART CAUTIONS
1 ATA ・Please be careful of the direction when inserting the ATA card.
CARD
1. REMOVE THE COVER BY LOOSENING THE SCREWS
2. INSERT THE ATA CARD INTO THE SLOT

2 ISA CARD ・For the ISA card, the closer side, seen from the back, is slot1. Install the
NC communication card in slot1.
・Is very careful when installing the ISA card tap fittings.
Installation methods differ with FANUC NC and MITSUBISHI NC.
FANUC NC MITSUBISHI NC

For the MITSUBISHI NC, install so that the small fitting jaws go inside
the slit.
・Also, there is an m3 set screw.

④Install the MORI SEIKI plate and the NC name plate on the new MAPPS. The plate
will rise during use if it is even slightly strained. Therefore, be careful not to inflict
excessive force during installation.

⑤Install the new MAPPS, as it was, on the operation panel. Also, install the connectors
and the FG lines.

Z2-2. NC SCREEN INDICATION METHOD


Z2-2-1. MITSUBISHI NC
Display the NC and PC parameters and the DGN and ladder diagrams.

① Press SYSTEM (maintenance) of the MDI key.


② Press F3 (NC SYSTEM)
The NC system menu screen will be displayed.
③ 1. Press INPUT (input)
The NC parameter function screen will be displayed.
・Press F3 (SETUP).
・The parameter screen will be displayed when Y, INPUT(input)is pressed.
2. Press INPUT (input).
The DGN function screen will be displayed.
3. Press INPUT (input).
The ladder function screen will be displayed.

It will return to the NC system menu screen when the SYSTEM (maintenance) of the MDI key
is pressed.

Z2-2-2. FANUC NC
1. For the NC parameters, PC parameters, ladder screens only
① Press the MDI key SYSTEM.
② Press the software key F3 (NC SYSTEM).
③ When the MDI key SYSTEM is pressed, it will return to the data input/output screen.

2. How to display all screens with the FANUC NC screen


① Press the MDI key SETTING.
② Press the MDI key 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 (press 9 9 times) INPUT.
The screen will switch to the DOS screen and [C:¥GOP3] will be displayed on the last
line.
③ Press the MDI key S A M P L E INPUT.
The FANUC screen will start.

3. How to display the MORI SEIKI screen from the FANUC NC screen
① Press the MDI key NETWORK.
The screen will turn yellow and OK will be displayed.
② Press the MDI key INPUT 0.
The screen will switch to the DOS screen and [C:¥GOP3] will be displayed on the last
line.
③ Press the MDI key C A M 2 T F INPUT.
The MORI SEIKI screen will start.

Z2-3-1. DATA INPUT/OUTPUT PROCEDURES ON THE MAPPS SCREEN
1.DATA OUTPUT
①. Press SYSTEM (maintenance) of the MDI key.
②. Set the external (data store or memory card) device to a ready condition.
Selection of the external device is performed in the communication parameters screen,
by pressing SETTING (setting) of the MDI key, and then pressing F9 (communication)
of the software key.
Refer to the 2-3-2 communication parameter settings for settings of the communication
parameters.
When using memory cards, use those that have been formatted.
③. Point the cursor at the item to be output, and then press F9 (punch) of the software
key.
④. When outputting to the memory card, and when altering the settings of the output
folders, press F7 (folder) of the software key.
The folder-selecting screen will be displayed. Point the cursor to the output folder and
press F6 (setting) of the software key.
⑤. Output of dialogue data will start when F6 (execution) of the software key is pressed.
An output-completed message will be displayed when output is complete.

2.DATA INPUT
①. Press SYSTEM (maintenance) of the MDI key.
②. Please set the external (data store or memory card) device to a ready condition.

Z2-3-2. DATA INPUT/OUTPUT PROCEDURES ON THE MITSUBISHI NC SCREEN

1. COMMUNICATION PARAMETERS SETTING


① Press SYSTEM (maintenance) of the MDI key.
② Press F3 (NC SYSTEM).
③ Press 1, INPUT.
④ Press "I/O parameters" of the software key.
If there is no indication of "I/O parameters", it will be indicated when F5 is pressed a
number of times.
⑤ I/O parameters screen will be displayed.
The communication parameters setting screen will be displayed when the page key is
pressed. Parameter settings will be performed in this screen.

2. INPUT/OUTPUT OPERATION METHODS


① Press SYSTEM (maintenance) of the MDI key.
② Press F3 (NC SYSTEM).
③ Press 2, INPUT.
④ Display "INPUT"/"OUTPUT" on the software key by pressing F5 a number of times.
⑤ For inputs, press F1 (input) and for outputs, press F2 (output).
The input/output screen will be indicated.
Set data store to a ready condition (start condition).
・For inputs:
Program … Press 1, INPUT
Offset … Press 2, INPUT
Parameter … Press 3, INPUT
Ladder and message … Press 99, INPUT (There is a need to stop the ladder)
・For outputs:
Program … Press 1, cursor →, ALL (or number), INPUT
Offset … Press 2, INPUT
Parameter … Press 3, INPUT
Ladder … Press 99, cursor →, 250, INPUT (The ladder needs to be stopped)
Message … Press 99, cursor →, 270, INPUT (The ladder needs to be stopped)

Z2-3-3. HOW TO STOP THE MITSUBISHI LADDER


①HOW TO STOP THE LADDER BY SCREEN OPERATION
1. In the MITSUBISHI CNC screen, set PC parameter No.6451.2 to 0
2. In the MITSUBISHI CNC screen, press software key F8(Fo) → software key
F5(MENU)→software key F3(FILE)→software key F4(RUN/SP)→1 INPUT.

② HOW TO STOP THE LADDER USING THE HARDWARE SWITCH


・ Turn the power ON after setting the NC rotary switch (NC SYS) to 1.

Z2-3-4. DATA INPUT/OUTPUT ON THE FANUC NC SCREEN

CAUTION: When using the RS232C connector in the FANUC NC screen, use the RS232C
connector interface of the NC side. Input/output cannot be performed in this screen
using the MAPPS RS232C connector.

Data input/output is as follows.


PC Parameter etc.
1. How to conduct PC parameter input/output (when using the memory card)
CAUTION: Complied by MAPPS software I98078A, I98080A, I98082A, and I98070A.
①Set NC parameter No.20=4 in the FANUC NC screen, and insert the card to the card slot
at the front of the MAPPS.
②Conduct input/output operations in the FANUC NC screen.

2. How to input/output PC parameters (when using the RS232C connector)


①Set NC parameter No.20=0 in the FANUC NC screen, and connect the communication
device to the RS232C connector within the electrical panel for horizontal machining
centers, and within the operation panel for lathes and vertical machining centers.
②Conduct input/output operations in the FANUC NC screen.

2-3-5.DATA INPUT/OUTPUT IN THE FANUC BOOT SCREEN, IPL SCREEN

The following data can be input/outputted.


NC software / ladder / macro / SRAM, etc.
1. How to display the BOOT and IPL screens
①Turn the power OFF.
The boot function can be used if the rotary switch of the NC HSSB board is 0. It is set to
0 at shipment.
②Turn the power ON.
③When “MORI SEIKI”is displayed on the screen, press the MDI key M , L , P or O.
・When M key is pressed … Data can be loaded from the NC card slot.
・When L key is pressed … Data can be loaded/saved from the NC card slot.
・When P key is pressed … Data can be loaded from the MAPPS card slot.
・When O key is pressed … Data can be loaded/saved from the MAPPS card slot.
(CAUTION) Keys P and O are complied by MAPPS software I98078A, I98080A, I98082A,
I98070A05∼.
④The MENU screen will be displayed.
⑤Please refer to 2-3-6 [FANUC NC boot function] for input/output methods.
⑥Turn the power OFF.

(CAUTION) When insert/removing the HSSB board, please pay attention not to damage
it. Please also be careful so that dust does not enter into the NC.

2-3-6.FANUC NC BOOT FUNCTION

By turning the MAPPS power ON while pressing the MDI key [M], [L], [O] or [P], the
following menu will be displayed.

◆ When the MAPPS power is turned ON while pressing keys other than [M], [L], [O]
or [P], no further operation is guaranteed.

Set the cursor to the desired item of the above menu and press the MDI key INPUT.
The meaning of the menu is as follows.

・BOOT
The following operation can be performed.
1) Loading of system files and user files
2) User file save
3) User file delete
4) System files and user files check
5) CNC SRAM data recovery
6) Formatting of the memory card inserted to the memory card slot of the CNC
7) File delete of the memory card inserted to the memory card slot of the CNC
◆ Menus 6) and 7) are for when the boot dispositions are loaded and saved to the NC.
Please refer to [2 Boot menu display and operation] for details.

・IPL
A CNC with the MDI key, and corresponds to operations performed by pressing the MDI key
during power ON. For details, please refer to [3 IPL menu display and operation].

・BOOT&IPL
This will continuously conduct the above mentioned 2 dispositions.

・CANCEL
Starts the CNC without conducting boot or IPL.

Each function is as follows.

・SYSTEM DATA LOADING


A list of the files in the memory card will be displayed on the screen.
The selected files will be loaded to the CNC flash ROM.

・SYSTEM DATA CHECK


A list of the system and user files in the CNC flash ROM will be displayed on the screen.
The selected files will be checked. Here, only such system files as [NC BASIC] and [DG
SERVO] can display the system and ROM numbers correctly.
User files cannot be checked.

・SYSTEM DATA DELETE


A list of the system and user files in the CNC flash ROM will be displayed on the screen.
The selected files will be deleted. However, system files cannot be deleted.

・SYSTEM DATA SAVE


A list of the system and user files in the CNC flash ROM will be displayed on the screen.
The selected files will be saved to the memory card. However, system files cannot be saved.

・SRAM DATA BACKUP


A sub-menu asking whether to save or restore the SRAM contents will be displayed.
When save is selected, the SRAM contents will be saved to the memory card.
When restore is selected, the SRAM contents will be restored from the memory card to the
CNC.
The backup filename will be automatically decided depending on the SRAM size and
therefore cannot be altered.

・MEMORY CARD FILE DELETE


A list of the files in the memory card will be displayed on the screen.
The selected files will be deleted. However, files can be selected only when the boot
dispositions are loaded/saved to the NC memory card.

・MEMORY CARD FORMAT


This will format the memory card.
However this can only be selected when the boot dispositions are loaded/saved to the NC
memory card.

・CANCEL
This will cancel the menu.

By inputting the number corresponding to the screen indication and by pressing the INPUT

Mistakes in input can be corrected by pressing the CAN key.

The present contents of each function are as follows.

・MEMORY CLEAR
The following memory can be deleted.
1) ALL MEMORY
a) All memory delete.
b) All memory of system 2 delete.
c) All memory of loader delete.

2) PARAMETER AND OFFSET


a) All parameters/offsets delete.
b) All parameters/offsets of system 1 delete.
c) All parameters/offsets of system 2 delete.
d) Parameters/offsets of loader delete.

3) PROGRAM
a) Programs of system 1 delete.
b) Programs of system 2 delete.
c) Loader programs delete.

4) ADDITIONAL SRAM
a) All additional SRAM delete.

c) Additional SRAM of system 2 delete.

5) PMC
a) CNC side PMC RAM delete.

6) CAP-Ⅱ
a) All CAP-Ⅱ sub-memory delete.
b) CAP-Ⅱ standard data store.

・SETTING
The following settings can be performed.
1) CNC starts ignoring the over-travel alarm.
2) CNC starts without the ladder.
3) C program executor can be operated.
a) Do not start the C program executor
b) Start the system application of the C program executor

・OTHERS
The following settings can be performed.
1) The macro executor will be loaded to the CNC via RS232C.

◆ The IPL menu may change depending on the CNC system and edition.

Z2-4. SCREEN SOFTWARE INSTALLATION PROCEDURES


0. HOW TO USE THE INSTALLATION CARD
① Turn the power OFF. Insert the memory card for installation to the card slot on the front
face of the MAPPS(indicating device).
Insert it so that the side printed Panasonic 40M is facing right, and the indication of
handling cautions is facing left.
② Turn the power ON while pressing F10, and keep pressing F10 until the following screen is
displayed. The screen will start.
Fixed Disk:0 Identified
Fixed Disk:1 Identified

③ The following screen will be indicated and the screen will stop.
Select which operations to perform.

・To install, press the MDI key 1 INPUT . (Refer to 1. of P.20)
・To backup conversation data and CAP parameters, press the MDI key 2 INPUT . (Refer to
2. of P.22)
・To recover the backed-up conversation data, press the MDI key 3 INPUT . (Refer to 3. of
P.22)

1.To Install
① The following screen will be displayed and the screen will stop

(a)(When formatting data and installing a new system)


When the MDI key 1 is pressed, immediately press the software key F10 and keep pressing
until the following is displayed (2 to 3 seconds). Setup will begin and the system software will
be installed.

Fixed Disk: 0 Identified


Fixed Disk: 1 Identified

※CAP parameter (inch/mm, screen language) will be reset.


※The conversation system data (tool files, cutting condition data, conversation parameters)
will be reset.
※The conversation program will be deleted.

(b)(When overwriting the changed system without formatting data)


When the MDI key 2 INPUT is pressed, setup begins and the system software will be
installed.

※CAP data and conversation data (tool file, cutting condition data, conversation parameters)
will no be changed.
※The conversation program will not be deleted.

② The following screen will be displayed and the screen will stop.

Select the keyboard type according to the normal machine type.
For machining centers: press 1 INPUT
For lathes: press 2 INPUT

※When installing the MAPPS software to the simulator, confirm the simulator key
positioning (keyboards with X, Y, Z in one line is for machining centers) to determine which
keyboard it is (machining center or lathe).
④ The following screen will be displayed and the screen will stop. (FANUC NC only)

Z2-6. CAP PARAMETER REWRITING PROCEDURES

1.HOW TO ENABLE REWRITING OF CAP PARAMETERS


① Press "SETTING" (setting) of the MDI key.
② Press F6(SETTING).
③ Press 1 INPUT ( 1 input ).

Rewriting of CAP parameters will become possible by performing these procedures.


After having rewritten the CAP parameters, perform 0 input in this
screen to prohibit rewriting.

2.HOW TO REWRITE CAP PARAMETERS


Rewriting of data will be impossible unless the procedures in item 1. are performed.
① Press "SYSTEM" (maintenance) of the MDI key.
② Press F2 (CAP PARAMETER).
③ Move the cursor at the no. of data to be input, and press value INPUT (input).
④ Press F9(set).(Data is written by this operation. Data will return to the original value if
the power if switched OFF without performing this operation.)

Z2-8. CAUTIONS WHEN CHANGING INCH/MILLIMETER

Items to be careful of when switching between inch/millimeter.


CAP parameter No.1 = 0 (millimeter)
= 1 (inch)

After changing the CAP parameters press the software key [data registration] and turn OFF
the MAPPS power.
Switching between inch/millimeter is possible when the MAPPS power is turned back ON.

※CAP parameter No.1 is an inch/millimeter change at the GOP side.


For the NC side, there is another inch/millimeter change. Please refer to it.

Z2-10. MSG-803 THE SCREEN HARDWARE COPY FUNCTION

1. Input CAP parameter No. 252=123.


This setting makes the screen hardware copy function effective.
Refer to the CAP parameter rewriting methods.

2. Insert the memory card into the card slot at the front face.
ATA flash memory cards and SRAM cards can be used.

3. Display the screen that you want to take a hardware copy of, and then press the "reset" key.

4. A "DISP****.RLE" file is made in the memory card at the front face.


**** is valued 0001, 0002, 0003… in the order that the reset is pressed.
This file saves the screen as a bitmap image.
When the extension is changed to BMP, it is possible to open the file using Windows
paintbrush, etc.
It is possible to cut-and-paste this screen onto Microsoft Word, etc.

1 screen is approximately 300Kb.

Z2-11. MEASURES FOR WHEN MAPPS DOES NOT START AFTER TURNING POWER ON
Disposition will differ according to the reason for the MAPPS not starting.
The presently known phenomena and disposition are noted here.
After turning the power ON, the screen will move from 1 to 8.

When this is not displayed and “!SYS*****” is


indicated and stops, there is a need to initial install the
1. Power ON MAPPS software
2. Memory Count
Fixed Disk 0:Identified

3. “ OS/2”is indicated on upper-left corner of screen

4. MORISEIKI MSG-*** control device name display screen is indicated

5. Setting of each driver (only for FANUC NC)


“HSSB********” Stops here.
“Waiting BUSRDY” Please reinsert communication cable to HSSB
“OK”is displayed on screen base.

6. FANUC NC software edition display screen indication (only for FANUC NC)
This screen is not displayed. Instead, the following is displayed on the left corner
Goplib.dll: DosOpen() failed
Correctly insert HSSB base to MAPPS indicator.

7. “Option OK”is displayed on second line of screen. (Only for FANUC NC)
Stops here (turns to a DOS screen)
Please remove and install the NC main board.
Or, remove and install the base of the NC side/MAPPS side of the HSSB.
Confirm that there are no error LED indications in the NC main board.
Contact FANUC should there be errors. Confirm maintenance note.
If you Push Check button on the Alarm screen, PC hanged-up to DOS screens.
If there are no NC errors, initial install the MAPPS software.

For the MITSUBISHI NC, if there are no warning indications until this step, the
communication cable may not be inserted to the ISA board.
As a symptom, the screen will remain green for a while and then CPPOM.DLL will be
displayed on the second line from the top.

8. Warning Screen Indication


※Items to check if causes are unknown (only for machines with FANUC NC)
When the MAPPS does not start, please confirm the LED indications of the NC main board.
If the LED indication (lower) has stopped at “8”, it suggests that communication between
the NC and MAPPS is not going on well.
Please confirm again that the HSSB base (NC side, MAPPS side), NC main board,
communication cables are firmly connected.
When the rotary switch of the HSSB base of the NC side is set to “2” and the power is
turned ON, the NC is operating properly if the NC main board LED indication (lower) has
stopped at “0”.
For cases other than “0”, the NC itself has not started normally. Please contact conditions

Z2-12.MITSUBISHI NC SOFTWARE VERSION-UP PROCEDURES

Please follow the procedures ①After confirming that the MAPPS power is OFF, set the control unit
on the right. rotary switch Ncsys to “B”.

②Open the upper cover, and install the FROM cassette with the system
S/W to the position of the expansion cassette (CBUS#x). (Refer to the
drawing below)

* Data cannot be written to the onboard FROM if the cassette installation


position is wrong.

③Turn the MAPPS power ON.

④7 segm ent LED indication: "d" – deleting; "P" - writing

⑤Completed normally 7 segm ent LED indication becom es "F".

complete.
