TR069 ACS Implementation

FAQs

1. Qn: Is it mandatory to configure ACS parameters in the ONT?


Ans: Yes. ONT mac validation is made compulsory by the corporate office. Implementation is done in
phased manner. In implemented circles, FMS order can be closed only after successful mac validation
through TR069 Auto Configuration Server (ACS).

2. Qn: How can I know that mac validation of ONT is made mandatory?
Ans: In FMS, now provision orders cannot be closed as there will not be any SUBMIT button. FMS will
show popup message as well as ACS Status to configure ONT with TR069 parameters.
3. Qn: Where do I can get the ONT configuration details for TR069?
Ans: All the relevant documents and screen shots of ONT configurations are available in the help menu
of BRIDLE website.

4. Qn: How can I access Bridle web site?


Ans: Bridle site is available both through LAN and through Internet as given below

Internet – http://acskl.bsnl.in/bridle/

5. Qn: How can I get username and password for Bridle login?
Ans: Bridle user level and admin for creating userid is given below.

6. Qn: What are the features available in Bridle web site?


Ans: The features available in Bridle site is explained with screenshots in the Bridle User Manual. It is
available in Help menu.

7. Qn: I configured ONT with TR069 parameters. Still ONT is not reporting. Why?
Ans: Check whether ACS URL is correct (http://acs.bsnl.in:7547). Check whether service mode is
TR069_INTERNET in wan service. If both are correct it will definitely report. If not restart the reporting
process.
8. Qn: How can I restart the reporting process?
Ans: Change the service mode of internet wan service as INTERNET and save. Again change it to
TR069_INTERNET and save. This will restart the reporting process. Giving a soft reboot in the ONT also
help to restart the reporting process.

9. Qn: How can I know that ONT is reported to ACS?


Ans: Check the value of INFORM INTERVAL parameter in TR069 page (Remote/CWMP menu in ONT).
It will be changed to 1800/2100 or higher (Default value set during configuration was 30 sec).
Connection request username and password will also change in the ONT once the ONT is reported to
ACS.
You can also see the userid appear in the Unidentified CPEs list in the List of CPEs menu in Bridle site.
10. Qn: How can I know that ONT is successfully mac validated?
Ans: Successfully mac validated ONTs will disappear from Unidentified CPEs list and will appear in
MAC Verified CPEs list in the Bridle site. FMS will allow franchisee to close the order by highlighting
the SUBMIT button. FMS will also show popup message and ACS Status as ACS verified.

11. Qn: How much time taken for mac validation and FMS updation?
Ans: Maximum 5 minutes.

12. Qn: How can I know that ONT is failed for mac validation?
Ans: Mac validation failed ONTs will remain in Unidentified CPEs list with failed reason in the Bridle
site. FMS will not show any mac validation report.

13. Qn: What are the reasons for mac validation failure?
Ans: Mac validation failure reason and remedy is listed below.

14. Qn: Mac validation is success and order is closed in FMS. But still userid remains in
Unidentified CPEs list in Bridle?

Ans: FMS will have another userid for the given number. Please ensure that multiple userids are not
available and userid in ONT and in FMS is same for the given number.
15. Qn: For shift orders, if the ONT is already reporting to ACS, verification is not happening.
Why?
Ans: Since the ONT is already reporting to ACS and verification is already made, mac verification will
not happen. In such cases, NOC can trigger reverification.
16. Qn: Is Autoconfiguration mandatory?
Ans: No. Auto configuration is not mandatory. It is optional. It is one of the main advantage of TR069
ACS.

17. Qn: Is mac validation mandatory in auto configuration?


Ans: YES. Mac validation is mandatory in auto configuration also. ACS will start configuration only after
successful mac validation.

18. Qn: Why default username and password is used for auto configuration?
Ans: To make it easier for the franchisee for configuring the ONT. Since it is common for all ONT, he
need not collect customer userid, voice password etc.
19. Qn: Why vlan 1199 is used for auto configuration?
Ans: To make the vlan unique and need less modification in network, 1199 is used as default vlan.

20. Qn: Can I use any other free vlan for auto configuration?
Ans: YES. You can use any other free vlan for configuring default wan service. But the condition is this
vlan, customer data vlan (with which internet is to be configured) and voice vlan should be in the ONT
profile and should be properly tagged in OLT.
21. Qn: What will happen if I didn’t enter telephone number or vlan or both in connection
request username field (in TR069 configuration page in ONT)?
Ans: Auto configuration will not start without telephone number. After predefined time, it will appear
in the list of failed cases.
22. Qn: Is it possible to give telephone number and vlan through Bridle site?
Ans: YES, you can enter telephone number and vlan through Bridle once it appear in the list of failed
cases. You can resume auto configuration by rebooting the ONT.

23. Qn: How auto configuration fails?


Ans: Possible fail reasons are:
 Telephone number not entered  Invalid mac
 VLAN not entered  No such order in FMS
 Telephone number is not valid  Unsupported model for Auto
configuration
 VLAN is not valid or unused

24. Qn: Is it possible to retry Autoconfiguration if it fails initially?


Ans: YES, you can retry auto configuration if it failed initially. But only after resetting the ONT to factory
default settings.

25. Qn: Is it possible to manually configure the ONT if it failed auto configure initially?
Ans: YES, you can manually configure the ONT if it failed auto configuration. But only after resetting
the ONT to factory default settings.
