M2 Justify design decisions, showing how the design will result in an
effective solution.
In this document I am going to be outlining all the designing aspect of the scoreboard which
was the task given to me by my client. After carefully designing my scoreboard I created a
questionnaire, so that I was able to gain valuable feedback that I would help me make
improvements and changes based on the feedback that I would have received. Once I had
created the questionnaire I handed it to individuals and asked them to kindly fill out the
questionnaire so that I was able to collect feedback towards my designs. The questionnaire
was handed back to me and then I categorized all the data in categories. The results which I
gained from these questionnaires I then used to gain an understanding of the market
research towards the program I was designing and planning to construct and I was able to
understand what was expected from my scoreboard. So during the constructing process I
was making the necessary improvements and changes based on the feedback that I was
receiving via the questionnaires.
Question Yes/No
Does my interface fit for its purpose ?
Should my menus be simple and plain or nice
and flashy with large bright images?
Do my scoring system meet the clients
requirements?
What was your overall experience of the scoring
system ?
Can you view the leader board without
experiencing lag or any errors?
In my questionnaire I tried to make it as minimum as possible with a few short snappy
straight to the point questions that was asking about the features of the scoreboard, what do
you expect from the scoreboard, is the scoreboard fully functioning if not what are the issues
and etc. I made question that would help me gain an idea of what the customers want in
terms of a working programmable scoring system. it judges how world interface works it
suggests different visual representations of the scoreboard as I knew this would help me
gain a wider understanding. Scoreboard needs to be more reliable in terms of the
positioning of the objects such as buttons and the point scoring. Improve this I decided to
place an individual point adding button next to every individual name with the counter
presenting to the user who is adding the points that they are able to add points for every
event for every individual this will be updated to the text file when the user clicks submit.
Feedback that I was receiving about the whole design of my scoreboard was very good and I
was very pleased about what I was receiving. From the feedback that I received the user’s
felt that they would be able to understand the menu more clearing if the it was designed to
be simple and straight to the point instead of a nice flashy background as they felt it would
interrupt with the system as a whole and it would overlap the text displayed on the menu. So
I then obviously decided that I was going to make my menu without any large or flashy
images and this decision was all based on the feedback that I had received. Again similar to
the whole structure of the system and also made the decision to construct the login and
register menu very simple and basic with no images so I was only presenting the user with
the option to enter a username and password.
Like all IT problems that are numerous ways to finding a solution to the problem using a
variety of resources and software’s so for constructing and designing a scoring board I had a
variety of routes to take and construct it but the route that I had decided to take was a little
more longer then the simple one because it didn’t require the use of a long array, I had
created different def’s which had different functions and then my aim was to construct a
visual aspect to the counter. The feedback based on the submit button that I deployed into
my system was very positive, the feedback suggested that the submit button was a very
unique as I had designed it as such that you can further use the text file to import information
into a visual graphical user interface menu resulting in real-time updates to the leader board
providing the college with updated information during events which was a major requirement
that was expected from my scoreboard.
