A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 7

I. Objectives
At the end of a 50-minute discussion, the students must execute the following with 75% level
of proficiency.
a. identify examples of Renewable and Non-renewable resources;
b. differentiate Renewable resources from Non-renewable resources;
c. show importance of Renewable and Non-renewable resources in our daily living.

II. Subject Matter

Unit: 4
Topic: Renewable and Non-renewable resources
Reference: Science Learner’s Material Grade 7
Materials: Laptop, TV, and PowerPoint Presentation

III. Learning Procedures

A. Preparatory Activities
Good morning class! Good morning, Sir!

“Stand up and let us pray. John,

new lesson.
2. Motivation

As an introduction on our new lesson,

we will play a game entitled “4 Pics 1 Round 1. Answer: WATER
Word”. Here are the mechanics of our
game;

Mechanics:
1. Observe and analyze each set of
pictures.
2. Arrange the jumbled letters to
get the possible answers.

Round 2. Answer: RENEWABLE

Everyone must participate, just raise

your hands if you want to answer.

Round 3. Answer: FOSSIL FUEL

Round 4 Answer: NON-RENEWABLE

Round 5 Answer: RESOURCES

2. Discussion
Based on your activity, how can you From the word renew which means can be
classify resources as renewable? replaced.

Very good!

What are the examples of renewable Water, solar energy and wind
resources in your activity?

Why is water an example of renewable Because water can be used over and over
energy resource? again and it is replaced by rain cycle.

What about solar? Why is it renewable? It is renewable because it can naturally

regenerate over a short period of time.

Why is wind an example of renewable Because it is affordable, clean and

energy resource? sustainable. It can be sufficient to
generate energy for a household.

Now, let’s move on to non-renewable

resources.

How can you classify resources as non- From the word non which means not,
renewable? therefore non- renewable is cannot be
replaced.
Very good!

What are the examples of non- renewable

resources in your activity? Coal, petroleum and natural gas.

Why are they considered non- renewable Because it takes longer time for them to
resources? replace. It takes million of years for dead
plants and animals to turn into fossil fuel.
Very good!
C. Generalization
