system?
The Endocrine System includes all the glands in our body. They
play a key role in making sure your body works the way it should.
If your endocrine system isn't healthy, you might gain weight
easily, have weak bones, or lack energy because too much sugar
stays in your blood instead of moving into your cells where it's
needed for energy.
What is the endocrine system made up
of?
The endocrine system is made up of glands that produce
and secrete hormones, chemical substances produced in
the body that regulate the activity of cells or organs. These
hormones regulate the body's growth, metabolism (the
physical and chemical processes of the body), and sexual
development and function.
What is the function of the endocrine system?
The endocrine system produces and secrete
hormones, chemical substances produced in
the body that regulate the activity of cells or
organs it controls the body's cells or organs .
These hormones regulate the body's growth.
In other word it controls the body's growth
Types of glands
The glands of the endocrine system are:
● Hypothalamus
● Pineal Gland
● Pituitary Gland
● Thyroid
● Parathyroid
● Thymus
● Adrenal
● Pancreas
● Ovaries
● Testes-jishnu
The hypothalamus gland
The hypothalamus’s main job is to keep the nervous system and the
endocrine system connected.the hypothalamus is located in the brain
the endocrine system is controlled by the hypothalamus this is a very
important part of the endocrine system.its main role is to keep the body
in a homeostasis this is a state where the body is in a good or healthily
shape as much as possible it plays a really important role in the body
such as -

● body temperature emotions

● sleep cycles appetite and weight control
● Childbirth l thirst and balancing body fluids
The disorders in the hypothalamus
Hypothalamus disorder is when there is any disease that is preventing
the hypothalamus from functioning properly it is very hard for the
doctors to pinpoint these diseases and diagnose because the
hypothalamus has a lot of roles in the endocrine system .This gland
also signals when the pituitary gland should send hormones into the
rest of the endocrine system .It is hard to diagnose a specific gland
which is not functioning properly this is often called hypothalamic -
pituitary disorders these are quite hard to cure.
Around the hypothalamus gland
The pituitary and hypothalamus
gland are connected In the back or
behind the hypothalamus gland there
are nerve endings witch run down to
the pituitary gland
The Pineal Gland.

The pineal gland is located in the

center of the brain, which looks
like a pine cone thus its name, in
humanes its 1 cm long and people also
call it the third eye.
The main responsibility of the

responsibility pineal gland is to secrete a

hormone called melatonin.
function

Melatonin is a hormone in our body that helps us to sleep.

The secretion of this hormone increase in the dark and
decreases in the day.

As people age the melatonin secretion decreases .

The Pituitary Gland
The pituitary gland is a tiny
organ, the size of a pea, found
at the base of the brain. As
the “master gland” of the body,
it produces many hormones that
travel throughout the body,
directing certain processes or
stimulating other glands to
produce other hormones.
Function of Pituitary gland
The pituitary gland is a part of your endocrine system.
Its main function is to secrete hormones into your
bloodstream. These Hormones can affect other organs and
glands, especially your thyroid.
Responsibility of The anterior pituitary gland
produces the following

Pituitary gland hormones and releases them

into the bloodstream:
adrenocorticotropic hormone,
which stimulates the adrenal
glands to secrete steroid
hormones, principally
cortisol. growth hormone,
which regulates growth,
metabolism and body
composition.
The Thyroid gland
The thyroid gland, or simply
the thyroid, is an endocrine
gland in the neck, it consists
two lobes connected by an
isthmus. It is found at the
front of the neck, below the
Adam's apple. The thyroid gland
secretes three hormones, namely
the two thyroid hormones.
Parts of thyroid
1. Thyroid gland
2. Right lobe
3. Left lobe
4. Thyroid
Cartilage
5. Isthmus
6. Trachea

7. chetana
Function of a thyroid
The thyroid is part of the endocrine system, which is
made up of glands that produce, store, and release
hormones into the bloodstream so the hormones
can reach the body's cells. The thyroid gland uses
iodine from the foods you eat to make two main
hormones
What is the responsibility of a thyroid
The thyroid gland produces hormones that
regulate the body's metabolic rate as well as heart
and digestive function, muscle control, brain
development, mood and bone maintenance. Its
correct functioning depends on having a good
supply of iodine from the diet.
The adrenal gland
The Adrenal Glands are small glands located on top of each
kidney. They produce hormones that you can't live without.
With adrenal gland disorders, your glands make too much
or not enough hormones.
Parts of the adrenal gland
the function of the adrenal gland
Located at the top of each kidney, the
adrenal glands produce hormones that help
the body control blood sugar, burn protein
and fat, it reacts to a major illness or injury.
Two of the most important adrenal hormones
are cortisol and aldosterone.
Glossary
Isthmus-The gland is shaped like a butterfly and wraps around the windpipe or trachea. The two wings or
lobes on either side of the windpipe are joined together by a bridge of tissue, called the isthmus, which
crosses over the front of the windpipe

Hormones-Hormones are special chemical messenger in the body that are created in the endocrine
system

Bloodstream-bloodstream is the blood flowing in your body

Metabolic system-the metabolic system is comprised of several organs
