OJT, or on-the-job training, is a program in which students obtain firsthand experience in the

workplace, as well as new competencies and abilities required for a job in the real world, in order

to boost their employability.

In the past months, we were informed that we would be carrying out our OJT either at the

location we had selected or one determined by the university. At first, I wasn't concerned about

those things because all I felt was excitement and nervousness. Excited because carrying out our

OJT implies that we are close to eventually reaching another phase in our career path, nervous

since it would be a new environment with new different people, and also worried that I would

make a mistake in the workplace.

The anticipated day arrived, and I chose to do my OJT at Nitos Enterprises Corporation,

which is located in San Anton, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija. To be honest, it was not really my

first choice, but I went with it anyway due to the fact that are not plenty of companies that are

open to students who want to do their OJT, so I ended up going in there. Nonetheless, it was an

adequate choice because I was going to learn something in there anyhow. Going into this

workplace and seeing the genuine thing increased my excitement; I was curious about what I

would learn, what skills I would develop, and what other things I would discover not just about

this line of work but also about myself. Being in Nitos Enterprises Corporation was initially

daunting, but my batch mates Carlo and Kurt made this experience a lot more manageable.

Meeting great people at work, such as Sir Cedric, Sir Ej, and Ma'am Kim, also enabled me feel at

ease and appreciate the enjoyable experience that it would provide.

We had to work eight hours a day, Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in

order to fulfill the 500 hours required for this OJT. Our first day of OJT at Nitos Enterprises

Corporation was on February 2nd of 2023, and during our first week, we worked on encoding
vehicle maintenance in their new system, settling transactions, and inspecting and displaying the

stock inventory. Following came and we did the same thing in the first few days and then works

like attaching past checks, matching files of ASYST and BEATROUTE, and sorting files added

to the list we were doing. Weeks passed, and new tasks were assigned to us, including

assembling and disassembling computers, transferring Nitos sales data to the San Miguel

Corporation system, encoding sales invoices, writing item prices, verifying price list updates,

encoding transactions from the Tarlac branch, and encoding Dry and RM sales invoices. Some of

these were not the tasks I envisioned doing, which admittedly startled me, but as the days went

on and I completed more work, I realized that these were still things that would improve my

knowledge and skills. Throughout my OJT experience, I worked hard to accomplish all of the

tasks that were given to me. It was my duty and responsibility to work without hesitation to offer

high-quality work not only to impress others around me in a company in a professional manner,

but also to learn and adapt to these work ideals.

All in all, as the end of my OJT journey draws near, all I can say is that I will always treasure

the experiences it given me, and I intend to apply all the knowledge I have gained along the way

to my remaining period as a college student as well as in the real world. I should also add that the

journey ended up being one of my favorite college-related events. I also figured out that although

I'm in my final year in college and we will be entering the adult world in a few months, I still

have a lot to learn about the path I chose and better comprehend it. Despite this, I can still claim

that I am anticipating what will happen over the coming years and that I will utilize all of my

knowledge and experiences as a weapon in the real world battle.
