Hotel trapped in the past. 3 star tops.

This was our first ever visit to the Royal Star and they
say you never get a second chance to make a first
impression. This is so true of this hotel. Calling this 4* is
very wide of the mark. Maybe 40 years ago it was 4
star, as this place is stuck in a time lock and has been
left wanting when it comes to the 21st century
standards of the modern day traveller. It's Tired and
dated as many other comments in thereviews have
said.The demographic was predominantly retirement
age ++However, for the first three days we was also a
wash with youth who loved to be heard.

Never Again
We came for a Christmas and New Year break.
The "hot" food was generally cold throughout our stay.
Christmas Day was almost a non event which was
disappointing but the New Year’s Eve dinner was
good. Sadly, it was the only meal during our stay where
we could say this.
On Boxing Day dozens of youngsters arrived for a
water polo tournament. For three nights they ran amok
totally out of control, climbing balconies, running and
shouting outside, leaping in the pool, and shouting
and running through corridors banging on our doors.
All of this continued until 3am and 4am. When

Fantastic stay at this hotel and I’m fussy!! Would

definitely return!!
After reading some of the reviews for this hotel I was
definitely expecting the worst however on arriving at
the hotel we were pleasantly surprised.
We stayed in room 101, our room was basic but clean,
we had a corner balcony with a view of both the pool
and up into the hills which was nice. The beds were
firm but still comfortable. The room was cleaned
everyday along with fresh sheets and towels.
Breakfast was undoubtedly the best meal, lots to
choose from, cooked breakfast/ croissants & pastries/
even pancakes and churros on some days.

Busy all inclusive hotel

Decent, clean and fairly comfortable all inclusive
hotel, with good and varied food. Yes, the dining hall
was crowded for most meals, and the mainly Spanish,
French and Belgian guests have no queue culture, but
that's part of the game. The swimming pool appeared
not to be heated, at least not much. I got a favourable
price through allinc.no , but paid nearly as much for
the transfer from / to Barcelona Airport as I paid for
the stay + flights. I stayed here 1 week, and had no
trouble.

Not a 4 star more like a 2

Hotel and rooms were clean and sta" were lovely.
Food was awful, always cold. The dining area was
awful. Lots of people packed in, people barging
about, walking right in front of people who are clearly
queing . This hotel is clearly focused on French and
Spanish visitors. I wouldnt recommend this hotel.

Traumatic experience
Serious safety incident

We stayed at this hotel through a package deal with

Just Go Holiday. However on our first night we were
e"ected by a horrible ordeal. We believe our drinks
were tampered with whilst in the bar and subsequently
we later found out that we had been robbed of our
money. It was reported to reception immediately the
next morning when we realised. At first they did seem
sympathetic. We went to the police station,it took 3
attempts to report it to them. However the hotel then
disengaged from us and to this day we have no idea if
the police a long with the hotel checked the CCTV?

Great base for our holiday

My experience of this hotel was much more positive
than most of the reviews on here. I agree it's not 4 stars
but based on what I paid , I am happy. The room was
cleaned every day with fresh towels supplied. The pool
was lovely, plenty of available loungers. The spa area
was relaxing to use. We were pool facing,
entertainment tended to finish around midnight so we
weren't bothered by noise and with the balcony door
closed we heard little noise from the road. I found the
beds firm but still slept well. The location was great for
us with friendly bars and restaurants around. I would
stay here again.

Food poisoning
I went on an all inclusive package, the room was not
ready for up to 2/3 hrs, there was no wi-fi in the room,
the light in the bathroom was flickering, the shower
valve was constantly coming out. Despite being all
inclusive, I was told I had to pay for every little thing
outside meal times (snacks, drinks,etc.). Food trays
were uncovered, plates were not very clean and the
majority of the food looked like it had been there for
the entire day - a few days into my holiday, I had
paella at lunch in the hotel and a few hours later was
in the A&E with severe food poisoning, the only help I
received from the hotel was the possibility of being

Good location but hotel needs updating

We booked this hotel for our wedding anniversary (24
th Sept - 1st Oct) but by reading the later reviews was
abit worrying and thought the worst. But when we
arrived were pleasantly surprised by the hotel the sta"
were ok but could be better mannered.Once we were
booked in and went to our room (510) which was nice
and clean with nice smelling bed sheets and
decorated nice with furniture etc! The bathroom
spotless and clean we had a balcony with 2 chairs but
no table (dont think any had a table by looking) we
had a pool view. The pool and pool area is ok with
plenty of beds and showers good surronding views

excellent Hotel
i h ave just returned from a four night stay at Poyal
Star i found it an excellent hotel to stay all Sta" from
Reception to Resturant and Bar Sta" were very
courteous and polite at all times sometimes under very
busy/trying curcumstances. Room was clean through
echoed at night Bar sta" coudnt be more
accomdaating once they understood what you
wanted i liked the special co"ee they made me after
diner Only bad part of holiday was coah journey home
