3. (a) cos3x cos2x − sin3x sin2x = 0.5

Using cos( A + B) = cos A cos B − sin A sin B with A = 3x and B = 2 x

cos(3 x + 2 x ) = 0.5
cos5 x = 0.5

You want solutions in the range 0  x   and you are going to divide by 5 so you need to look for solutions
for 5x in the range 0  5x  5 . Remember that cos is positive in the first and fourth quadrants
