2. In a country, 60% of the male citizen and 70% of the female citizen are eligible to vote.
70% of the male and 60% of female citizen are eligible to cast their vote. What fraction
of citizens voted during their election?
𝟐𝟏 𝟐𝟏 𝟐𝟐 𝟏𝟏
A. 𝟒𝟗 B. 𝟓𝟎 C. 𝟒𝟗 D. 𝟒𝟗
Solution: Let, total number of male = x and total number of female = y
So, male voted = 60% of 70% of x = 0.6*0.7* x = 0.42x
And female voted = 70% of 60% of y = 0.7*0.6*y = 0.42y
Total citizen = x+y
Total citizen voted = 0.42x+ 0.42y = 0.42 (x+y)
