Narrative Report

1. Introduction/Rationale
Calat-an Elementary School is driven by its unwavering commitment to provide quality education and
support the professional development of our esteemed educators. Aligned with the mandates set forth by the
office of the Department of Education under its DO # 034 s. 2022, this training program included in the School
Calendar of Activities for School Year 2023-2024 serves as a strategic platform to empower our teachers with the
necessary knowledge, skills, and resources to navigate the academic year successfully.

The rationale behind this INSET is rooted in the recognition that effective teaching practices and
continuous professional development are essential for delivering high-quality education. Through this training
program, our dedicated teachers will have the opportunity to enhance their pedagogical proficiency, stay abreast
of current educational trends and methodologies, and reflect on their teaching approaches. By engaging in
interactive workshops, collaborative activities, and informative sessions, our educators will acquire valuable
insights and practical strategies that can be immediately applied in the classroom leading to improved learner
engagement and learning outcomes.

Moreover, this Mid-Year INSET embodies our commitment for cultivating a culture of continuous
learning and professional growth among our teachers. By investing in their professional development, we aim to
create a supportive and dynamic learning environment that fosters innovation, collaboration, and instructional
excellence. Through the exchange of insights, experiences, and best practices among our educators, this training
program will facilitate a collective growth mindset, ultimately benefiting our learners in their holistic
development.

The Mid-Year In-Service Training for Teachers (INSET 2024) of Calat-an Elementary School aims to
enhance the quality of education by supporting their professional growth. By equipping our educators with the
necessary tools and knowledge, we aim to enhance their teaching practices, promote continuous learning, and
create a positive impact on learner engagement and learning outcomes. Through this INSET, we strive to foster a
culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation in education ensuring that our learners receive the best
possible educational experience.

NARRATION OF ACCOMPLISHMENT

 Day 1

Accomplishment Report for Day 1 - January 24, 2024

The Five-Day In-Service Training for Teachers commenced on January 24, 2024.

The first day of the training was held at Cartagena Elementary School and it brought together
three Public Elementary Schools under Cluster 7 with the presence of teaching and non-
teaching personnel in attendance.

The day began promptly at 8:00 in the morning with a plenary activity that involved all
participants from the three schools under Cluster 7. The opening program commenced with a
prayer led by Ma’am Ma. Ailene C. Moreno followed by the singing of the National Anthem led
by Ma’am Regina G. Gaurana. The participants then joined in the singing of the SDO Sipalay City
Hymn. Mr. Andy V. Claridad, the Principal 1 of Cartagena Elementary School delivered a warm
welcome address extending recognition to the participating schools namely Genaro P. Alvarez
Elementary School II headed by Head Teacher III - Mr. Jerry O. Hilario and Calat-an Elementary
School led by Principal 1 Ma'am Rhea Mae T. Mahilum. The presence of the non-teaching
personnel including Public Schools District Supervisor Ma'am Nemia O. Rufano, Administrative
Officer 1 Joanna Bilbao, and PDO 1 Marielle Lotus O. Rufano was also acknowledged.

The accomplishments of the first day of the training program reflect a successful start of the
INSET. The plenary activity fostered a sense of unity and collaboration among the participants
from the three schools in Cluster 7. The opening program with the presence of distinguished
guests and leaders created an inclusive and welcoming environment for all attendees.

The day started with the registration process where all participants officially registered for the
program. The opening program set the tone for the INSET, creating a welcoming and inclusive
atmosphere.

During the morning session, the participants were introduced to the Result-Performance
Management System (RPMS). Through a comprehensive presentation, they gained an
understanding of the key components and principles of the RPMS framework and its
significance in improving performance management in education. The presentation materials
provided valuable resources to enhance the participants' awareness and understanding of
RPMS.

In the afternoon session, the focus shifted to the Multi-Year Guidelines on the RPMS - PPST
2023. The participants familiarized themselves with the updated guidelines and explored how
they align with the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) 2023. Through
discussions, they gained an enhanced understanding of the integration of PPST in the RPMS
process. The presentation materials on RPMS-PPST 2023 served as valuable references for the
participants.

The next segment of the day was dedicated to the Teachers' Performance Review and Target
Setting as well as the review of the MPS (Mean-Percentage-Score) results per learning areas for
the first quarter. Through an informative presentation, the participants recognized the
importance of performance review and target setting for their professional growth. They
identified areas for improvement based on the MPS results and developed corresponding
action plans to enhance their teaching practices.

To encourage reflective practice and self-assessment, a 30-minute reflection session was


conducted. The participants engaged in guided reflection exercises, such as journaling or group
sharing, where they reflected on their personal teaching experiences or challenges. This
reflection exercise allowed them to identify areas for improvement and develop a deeper
understanding of their professional growth journey.

Overall, Day 1 of the INSET program was a successful and productive day with participants
actively engaging in the sessions and gaining valuable knowledge and skills. The program
effectively achieved its objectives of introducing RPMS, familiarizing participants with the Multi-
Year Guidelines on RPMS - PPST 2023, reviewing teachers' performance, and encouraging
reflective practice. The resource materials provided, including presentation slides, handouts, and
prompts for reflection proved to be valuable tools for the participants' learning journey.

 Day 2

Accomplishment Report for Day 2 - January 25, 2024:

The second day of the Five-Day In-Service Training for Teachers took place at Calat-an
Elementary School.

The day commenced with a morning session that focused on familiarizing the participants with
RA 6713 - Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Teachers. The session lasted for 90
minutes and aimed to discuss the importance of professional ethics and conduct in the teaching
profession. Printed copies of RA 6713 were provided to the participants as a reference. The
session was expertly facilitated by Sir Joemarie L. Amalla.

Following the morning session, there was a 60-minute reflection period. This allowed the
participants to engage in introspection and personal evaluation, encouraging them to reflect on
their own professional practices and ethical responsibilities as teachers.

In the afternoon session, the focus shifted to the concept and principles of differentiated
instruction. The session facilitated by Ma’am Christy Mae A. Gajo introduced the participants to
differentiated instruction and its application in the classroom to meet the diverse learning needs
of learners. Through a comprehensive presentation, the participants gained an enhanced
knowledge of strategies and techniques for implementing differentiated instruction. The session
included demonstration videos or resources showcasing differentiated instruction techniques,
providing practical examples for the participants.

Following the presentation, a workshop was conducted to provide participants with hands-on,
practical experience, and skills development. The workshop format allowed the participants to
apply the content they learned in the session through interactive activities or exercises. This
enabled them to acquire practical skills and knowledge related to differentiated instruction. The
workshop materials and handouts specific to the topics were provided to support the
participants' learning experience.

The accomplishments of Day 2 demonstrated a continued focus on professional growth and


development. The participants deepened their understanding of the ethical standards and
responsibilities in the teaching profession through the discussion on RA 6713. The reflection
period provided a valuable opportunity for self-assessment and personal growth. The afternoon
session on differentiated instruction equipped the participants with the necessary knowledge

and skills to cater to the diverse learning needs of their learners. The workshop further
enhanced their practical abilities, allowing them to apply the newly acquired knowledge directly.

Overall, Day 2 of the training program was successful in providing the participants with valuable
learning experiences; fostering a commitment to professional ethics and conduct, and
equipping them with effective instructional strategies to create inclusive classrooms. The
program materials, including printed copies of RA 6713, presentation slides, demonstration
videos, and workshop materials supported the participants' learning journey and will serve as
valuable references for their professional practices.

 DAY 3

Accomplishment Report for Day 3 - January 26, 2024:

The morning session began with a 60-minute session on integrative teaching facilitated by
Ma’am Elizabeth S. Espinosa. The session aimed to introduce the participants to the concept of
integrative teaching and provide them with strategies and techniques for integrating multiple
subjects/disciplines in their teaching practice. The participants explored various strategies on
integrative teaching approaches and engaged in brainstorming sessions to identify
opportunities for integration within their respective subject areas. As a result, they developed
lesson plans that incorporated techniques and strategies for multiple disciplines. Lesson
planning templates or worksheets, along with format samples of integrative lessons, were
provided to support the participants in their lesson planning process.

Following the morning session, a 90-minute session on crafting effective lesson plans using the
explicit teaching approach was conducted. This session facilitated by Ma’am Mary Grace A.
Sason focused on promoting clear learning goals, explicit instruction, and active engagement.
The participants were guided in crafting lesson plans using the explicit teaching model. By the
end of the session, they had completed lesson plans that incorporated the explicit teaching
model. Lesson plan templates or worksheets were provided to assist the participants in
structuring their lesson plans effectively.

In the afternoon session, the participants delved into strategies to reduce human error and
facilitated by Ma’am Rhea Mae T. Mahilum. The session aimed to equip the participants with
strategies and techniques to mitigate and reduce human error in various professional contexts.
Through exploration and discussion, the participants familiarized themselves with strategies and
best practices to minimize human error in different settings. Handouts and resources

summarizing error prevention strategies were provided to support their understanding for
future application of these techniques.

The day concluded with a 120-minute demonstration of integrative teaching methods


conducted by Ma’am Shalemar R. Sayo. The participants had the opportunity to observe a live
demonstration of an integrative lesson by the teacher. They witnessed firsthand how integrative
teaching can be implemented in the classroom and observed the lesson materials and resources
used for the demonstration.

Day 3 of the training program provided the participants with valuable insights and practical
strategies to enhance their teaching practices. The sessions on integrative teaching and explicit
lesson planning equipped them with the skills and knowledge to create engaging and cohesive
lessons that integrate multiple subjects. The exploration of strategies to reduce human error
increased their awareness of potential pitfalls and provided them with tools to minimize errors
in their professional contexts. The live demonstration of integrative teaching further reinforced
their understanding and allowed them to observe effective implementation in action.

The training materials including lesson planning templates, handouts on error prevention
strategies, and the lesson materials used for the demonstration served as valuable resources for
the participants' ongoing professional development.

The accomplishments of Day 3 contributed to the participants' growth as educators and their
ability to provide quality instruction in an integrated and error-conscious manner.

 DAY 4

Accomplishment Report for Day 4 - January 27, 2024:

The morning session began with a 60-minute session on the Numeracy and Literacy
Intervention Program at the teaching level. The session aimed to equip the participants with the
knowledge and skills to implement effective numeracy and literacy interventions. A presentation
was delivered focusing on the key components and principles of numeracy and literacy
interventions. By the end of the session, the participants gained an understanding of the
rationale and components of numeracy and literacy intervention programs. Presentation
materials, including slides and handouts were provided to support their learning.

Following the morning session, a 120-minute workshop on crafting numeracy and literacy
intervention programs was conducted. The workshop provided participants with a hands-on
experience in designing effective intervention programs. Through peer sharing and feedback,
the participants had the opportunity to collaborate and receive input on their intervention
program designs. As a result, they developed skills in crafting numeracy and literacy
intervention programs. Flipcharts and meta cards, along with markers, were provided to
facilitate group discussions and brainstorming.

In the afternoon session, the importance of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) in education was
discussed. Ma’am Jinky M. Pineda facilitated this session which lasted for 60 minutes. The
participants engaged in group activities and brainstorming sessions to identify areas for
improvement and develop action plans related to SEL. They crafted SEL lesson plan examples
that showcased successful applications of SEL strategies. The examples served as valuable
references for incorporating SEL into their teaching practices.

The day concluded with a 120-minute session on the review, planning, and target setting for the
implementation of the WINS guidelines and assessment tool. The participants explored
strategies for setting realistic and measurable targets aligned with the objectives of the WINS
program. By the end of the session, they had completed their review, planning, and target
setting plans for implementing WINS. The assessment tool was provided to support their
evaluation and monitoring processes.

Day 4 of the training program provided the participants with valuable knowledge and skills
related to numeracy and literacy interventions, Social-Emotional Learning, and the
implementation of the WINS program. The sessions equipped them with effective strategies and
techniques to address the specific needs of learners in numeracy and literacy. The discussions
on SEL emphasized the importance of fostering learners' social-emotional well-being,
enhancing their overall development. The guidance on reviewing, planning, and target setting
for the WINS program facilitated the participants' ability to create comprehensive and
measurable plans for improving well-being, inclusion, nutrition, and safety in the school
community.

The training materials including presentation slides, handouts on numeracy and literacy
interventions, SEL lesson plan examples, and the WINS assessment tool provided valuable
resources for the participants' ongoing professional growth. The accomplishments of Day 4
contributed to the participants' ability to implement evidence-based strategies, promote well-

being and inclusion, address learners' diverse needs, and foster a positive and supportive
learning environment.

 DAY 5
Accomplishment Report for Day 5 - January 28, 2024:

Day 5, the final day of the Five-Day In-Service Training for Teachers at Calat-an Elementary
School.

The morning began with a 120-minute session on Mental Health Awareness. The objective
of this session was to increase participants' understanding of mental health, reduce stigma,
and promote awareness of mental health issues and strategies for maintaining mental
well-being. The participants explored self-care practices and coping strategies that can
contribute to maintaining good mental well-being. By the end of the session, they gained
knowledge of various self-care practices and coping strategies to promote mental well-
being. Informational resources on common mental health disorders and their symptoms
were provided to support their understanding and further exploration of the topic.

Following the Mental Health Awareness session, a 60-minute session revisiting and
familiarizing participants with the provisions and objectives of RA 11313, also known as the
Safe Spaces Act, was conducted. The session aimed to promote understanding and
compliance with the law. An introduction to the Safe Spaces Act was provided, highlighting
its significance in promoting safe and respectful environments. The participants gained
knowledge of their responsibilities and obligations under the law through an
understanding of its provisions and objectives. Copies of the Safe Spaces Act and handouts
summarizing the key provisions and responsibilities were distributed to support their
comprehension of the law.

In the afternoon session, a 60-minute closing program conclude the Mid-Year INSET. The
program aimed to provide a meaningful and inspiring closure to the training, recognizing
participants' achievements and reinforcing key learnings. Certificates were presented to the
participants to acknowledge their completion of the training and their dedication to
continuous professional development. The closing program enhanced participants'
understanding of the importance of continuous professional growth and development.
Evaluation forms were also distributed to gather feedback on the training program.

The completion of Day 5 marked the successful conclusion of the Five-Day In-Service
Training for Teachers. The morning sessions on Mental Health Awareness and revisiting the
Safe Spaces Act equipped participants with knowledge and strategies to promote mental
well-being and create safe and respectful environments within the school community. The
closing program in the afternoon provided a platform to acknowledge participants'
accomplishments and emphasize the significance of continuous professional development.

The training materials, including informational resources on mental health, copies of the
Safe Spaces Act and certificates of completion served as valuable references for the
participants' ongoing professional growth. The accomplishments of Day 5 contributed to
the participants' increased awareness of mental health, reduced stigma, knowledge of legal
responsibilities, and motivation to engage in continuous professional development.

The Mid-Year INSET was a meaningful and enriching experience for the participants,
providing them with valuable knowledge, skills, and resources to enhance their teaching
practices and support the holistic development of their learners. The facilitators' expertise
and dedication, combined with the participants' active participation made the training
program a success. The participants left the training with a renewed commitment to their
profession and a deeper understanding of the importance of continuous learning and
improvement.

This training is mandatory for all teaching staff and will be conducted on the following dates: February
24-26, 29-30, 2024.

The INSET will cover various topics that are relevant to our teaching practice and the holistic
development of our learners. The training design has been carefully crafted to ensure that it meets the
specific needs of our teaching staff. Each teacher has been assigned a specific topic to focus on during
the training.

Please refer to the attached training design for detailed information on the content and schedule of the

and activities.

I would like to emphasize that attendance for the Mid-Year INSET is compulsory for all teaching staff. It is
