JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL CATECHETICAL TEMPLATE

Introduction

Religion as Core of the Curriculum is PCC’s flagship being expressed in the different areas of the school through it’s programs
and activities. But what does it mean in terms of definition? PCC has defined RCC in terms of structure during the years of Fr. Eligio
Canete and this elevated the office to make the community aware of the importance or religious practices and formation of the
College. Upon the arrival of Msgr. Gerry Santos, he defined RCC as a seamless articulation of the Gospel values horizontally and
vertically, meaning the Gospel values are discussed across all levels (vertically) and all subjects and disciplines (horizontally). With
this understanding, RCC became a bit more clearer and thus formation of the faculty with regards basic Church teachings and
doctrines is very essential for them to do it properly. Also, this launched the idea of the creation of the Catechetical Template. The
template contains the Catechesis topics per level and the doctrinal, moral and worship ideas and/or contents involved.

However, with the onset of the pandemic and DepEd’s issuance of the Most Essential Learning Competencies, the
Catechetical Template was set aside but the CF drafted the Integration Matrix forging a strong collaboration with CI, CM and PM
then later on considering programs with CIED (Center for Interreligious and Ecumenical Dialogue) to be able to maximize the online
platforms.

Having these modifications and considering the return of the face to face modality of the College, the Catechetical Template
for this school year will have to integrate the Integration Matrix of CI-CM-PM and give sample strategies for the subject teachers to
easily use the template with their content and/or strategies.
How to use this template?

The template has six (6) columns as seen below. The first column is where the CI topics are read. Following the second, third
and fourth column is the Docrine, Moral and Worship respectively. These briefly discusses the teachings/concepts involved under
each area in Catechesis which the catechists discuss in class and where the subject teachers can get their integration point. The last
two columns are suggested strategies and tasks. These are columns where the subject teachers can use as part of their strategies
and tasks that they prepare for their subjects in relation to their discussion with the students.

At the end of the template are two more rows containing the CM (Campus Ministry) and PM (Pastoral Ministry)
themes/activities. These rows will assist the subject teachers in reminding them of the CM and PM themes and thus giving them
some ideas on how to align their activities with the CM and PM.

Note: The Catechetical Template is a template that strongly suggests the movements of RCC. However, it is not limited to what is
written. Other activities, strategies and tasks that may be suggested is always welcome. Mapping of such is also welcome.
