Language and communication The child understands in English the words for objects in nature, food and drinks, clothes, and playground equipment. The child can name these things in English. The child can ask and answer these questions in English: • What do you see? • Where’s the (frog)? • Do you like (apples)? • Do you have a (T-shirt)? • What shape is it? Phonological awareness and literacy The child can recognize and pronounce rhyming words in English. The child can recognize and pronounce the sounds /r/, /s/, /p/, /n/, /h/, /d/, /l/, /u/. The child can read and understand rebus sentences. The child can listen to, follow, understand, and enjoy a story in English. The child can hold and control a pencil, circle an object, and trace numbers. Math The child can count to ten in English. The child can carry out a simple survey. Other content areas Art The child can use paint, scissors, glue, and clay. The child can make multimedia pictures and models. Social studies The child can work and play well with classmates. The child can talk about different types of clothing. Science The child can explore things around him or her. The child can investigate nature and food. Physical education The child can play action games. The child can move in a controlled and coordinated way. Values The child understands the importance of appreciating nature, being polite, being helpful at home, taking turns, and working together. General The child enjoys English classes. The child understands classroom instructions and participates well in activities. The child behaves well in class and completes work with care. The child remembers new language well.
