an advanced artificial hand aimed at both prosthetic and humanoid
robotics applications. By closely mimicking the sensory-motor
functions of the human hand, this technology endeavors to offer
seamless integration and enhanced functionality in diverse
contexts. Key areas of investigation encompass prosthetic
rehabilitation methodologies, cutting-edge advancements in human-
machine interaction, innovative materials engineering for improved
durability and comfort, intricate control system optimizations, and
fostering interdisciplinary synergies within the field of
biomechatronics to propel forward the frontier of artificial limb
technology.

OBJECTIVES

To improve design of hand using different design

Design and analysis of Hand cad model.
Design mainly focuses of Virtual structure of hand .
Prototype of an hand.
Introduction
The field of biomechatronics has witnessed significant advancements in
recent years, driven by the convergence of various disciplines such as
mechanical engineering, electronics, computer science, and biology.
One area of particular interest and relevance is the development of
artificial limbs, specifically artificial hands, capable of replicating the
intricate sensory-motor capabilities of the human hand. The need for
advanced artificial hands arises from the increasing demand for
prosthetic solutions that offer not only functional substitution but also a
seamless integration with the user’s body and environment. Traditional
prosthetic devices have often fallen short in providing natural
movement, tactile feedback, and intuitive control, limiting the user’s
ability to perform daily tasks with ease and efficiency.
Scope
Design and Engineering: The project involves the design and engineering of a
biomechatronic
hand that replicates the sensory-motor capabilities of the human hand. This
includes the design of
mechanical structures, actuators, sensors, and control systems, as well as
the integration of these
components into a functional prototype.
Prototyping and Fabrication: A prototype of the biomechatronic hand will be
fabricated using
advanced manufacturing techniques such as 3D printing, CNC machining, and
rapid prototyping. The
prototype will serve as a proof-of-concept demonstration of the proposed
design and functionality.
Sensor Integration: The project includes the integration of various sensors,
including position sensors,
force sensors, and tactile sensors, to enable the biomechatronic hand to
perceive and interact with
its environment in a human-like manner. Sensor calibration and testing will
be conducted to ensure
accurate and reliable feedback.
Literature
Survey
Biomechatronic hands represent a significant
advancement in prosthetic and orthotic technology,
aiming to restore or enhance hand function for
individuals with upper limb differences or impairments.
By integrating biological and mechanical systems,
these devices offer improved grasping, manipulation,
and sensory capabilities. The field of biomechatronics
draws on expertise from robotics, biomimetics,
rehabilitation engineering, and materials science to
design
and develop these advanced prostheses and orthoses.
State of the Art
The paper explores the history and applications of Biomechatronic
hand, covering design types and their use in military, surveillance,
transportation, and potential future delivery services.
A report by Aayush Agarwal on a MARS Exploration Pvt. Ltd. has
Hand details its design, components, and manufacturing processes
using . The report also outlines plans for future enhancements like
prototyping and advanced systems.
1. Insufficient Functionality: Existing prosthetic hands lack the ability to
replicate the intricate
sensory-motor capabilities of the human hand, resulting in limited functionality
and usability for users.
2. Lack of Integration: Integrating prosthetic hands into humanoid robotics
applications poses challenges
related to manipulation capabilities, interaction with the environment, and user
interface design.
3. Inadequate User Experience: Users of prosthetic hands often face frustration
due to the lack of
natural movement, tactile feedback, and intuitive control, highlighting the need
for improved user
experience.
4. Limitations in Rehabilitation: Rehabilitation efforts for individuals with hand
injuries or surgeries
are hindered by the limitations of existing prosthetic technology, necessitating
advancements in functionality
and control
