Connect a PC

Marine Pro User's Manual P a g e | 15

If the PC cannot connect to the DCU, there may be an IP
address conflict.
Often, the IP address in a laptop PC cannot be changed by
the user, since access is blocked due to company policy.
If so, the PC IP address can only be set dynamically
(changed) by a DHCP server when connected in a
network where a DHCP server exists.
For this purpose, the DCU has an inbuilt DHCP server,
which may be activated in order to issue a new IP address
to the laptop.

At the top of this form, the current IP number in the DCU

is listed. The next lines display a Start and End IP address.
This is the range the DHCP server will scan, and a “free”
address in the range will be given to the connected PC.

Pre-selected Range
The DCU will preselect a range that is outside the DCU’s
current IP address. The DCU IP address should not be
within the Start- and End IP address. The example shown
in the graphic above is correct.

Execute the command

Press the Save button. The DCU’s DHCP server will now
issue a new IP address to any PC already connected to the
DCU, or any new PC connected within the Timeout period
(here; 10 minutes).
Note! The PC keeps the issued IP address even after the
timeout.

Networked DCU
If the DCU is connected to a local area network (LAN)
serving more equipment, the help of staff running the
LAN may be needed as one should not run several DHCP
servers in the same LAN. Also in this case, the IP address
of the DCU should be set according to the address range
of the LAN.

P a g e | 16 Marine Pro User's Manual

Configuration
This is where sensor parameters on the DCU are
configured.
The section is password protected, and is not the scope in
this manual. Please see the Marine Pro Installation
Manual.

Interface Design
Up to four extra instrument screens can be added by the
user.
Note! Make sure you know what you do – and what to do
– before attempting this chapter.
Note! Normally, such screens would only be added by the
engine supplier, then using the web interface
programming tool.
