COURSE TITLE: OOW – Remote/Blended learning 3+6

Entry Requirements:

Before entering on the programmes candidates require 36 months sea service (including 6 months bridge watch
keeping time in the last 12 months) on foreign going vessels more than 80GRT and 24m LOA

It is the responsibility of candidates to ensure that all entry requirements for the course and the
issue of a Notice of Eligibility (NoE) by the MCA are met prior to attending the course.

For sea time assessment a candidate may log onto the MCA’s web site www.mcga.org.uk

Course Dates:

SEPTEMBER (22034OOWA) 12th September 2022 to 16th June 2023 *

*12th September 2022-16th December 2022 will be remote learning, classroom studies will begin from 3 rd
January 2023

SQA exam week commencing 20/03/2022

FEBRUARY (22034OOWB) 13th February 2023 to 24th November 2023 *

*13th February 2023-26th May 2023 will be remote learning, classroom studies will begin from 5th June 2023

SQA exam week commencing 02/10/2023

APRIL (22034OOWC) 17th April 2023 to 23rd February 2024 *

*17th April 2023-14th July 2023 will be remote learning, classroom studies will begin from 4th September
2023

Efficient Deck Hand (EDH) £ 640

HT6M 34 - Marine Meteorology: An Introduction
HR03 34 - Bridge Watchkeeping LO3
HR07 34 - Naval Architecture: Ship Construction
HR09 35 - Celestial Navigation
HR0C 34 - Marine Emergency Response & Communication
HR0D 34 - Marine Law & Management: An Introduction

The delivery of the above units will/may be via on line teaching for the first 3
months (Allowing 3+6 scheme for shorter visa duration)

1 week MCA/SQA Exam 034-83 Navigation


MCA/SQA Exam 034-84 Stability and Operations

2 weeks Preparation for MCA Oral Examination.
