Resistance in Series & Parallel

Q1. Find the overall current in the series circuit and also the
voltage drop across each capacitor.
R1 = 500 Ω
R2 = 1K Ω
R3 = 1.5K Ω
V = 12 volts
Q2. Three resistors having resistances of 24 Ω, 22 Ω, 20 Ω
respectively connected in series. If a potential of difference 26V
is applied across resistors. Calculate the current through 20 Ω
resistors and also Calculate differences of potentials across each
individual resistors.
Q3. Three resistors R1 = 1 Ω, R2 = 2 Ω, R3 = 2 Ω are connected
in parallel configuration attached to a voltage source of 3V DC.
a) What is equivalent resistance?
b) Find the current supplied by the source to circuit.
c) Calculate currents in each resistors and show that these
add together to equal the total circuit current.
d) Calculate the power dissipated by each resistor.
e) Find the power of output of the source and show that it
equals the total power in circuit.

Q6. Find the total capacitance for three capacitors connected in
series given their individual capacitances as 1 µΩ, 5 µΩ and 8
µΩ.
Q7. Find the net capacitance for three capacitors connected in
parallel given their individual capacitances 1 µΩ, 5 µΩ and 8 µΩ.

point in the middle of two point charges of 4 µC and -3.2 µC
respectively separated by 4cm.
Q12. In the vicinity (range) of point charge q we place a 0.2 µC
charge so that a force of 5x10-2 N applied to it due to charge q.
Find the electric field produced by the unknown charge q.

Q13. Calculate the electric flux on a plane of Area 1m2 on
which an electric field of 2 N/C across with an angle of 30o.
Q14. Determine the electric flux of a flat square having an area
of 10m2 with electric field of 800N/C passing perpendicular to it.
