Teacher’s Activity Pupils’ Activity


A. Before the Lesson
Motivation:
Good morning class! Good morning too, teacher!
Today we will help each other for you to:
(a)determine possible causes from a given
effect and vice versa, (b)cite that everything
happens because there is/are reason/s behind,
and (c) draw the effects of a single cause.
I have I have prepared a short story, and
kindly read and understand it because you will
answer a few questions about it.
The story is entitled, “Boboy Late at
School”.

Boboy Late at School


One Monday morning, Boboy came late at
school, so his teacher scolded him. His teacher
didn’t bother to ask him why because she was
busy. Soon after the class, Boboy, with his
shaky shoulders, went to his teacher because
he was going to tell her why he was late.
“Teacher I was tired of playing yesterday so I
woke up late this morning”, said Boboy. His
teacher tapped his shoulders and said, “Dear,
I forgive you because you have been honest to
me”.

Comprehension Check
Who are the characters in the story? Boboy and his teacher
Why did the teacher scold Boboy? Because he came late at school
Did the teacher ask him why he was late? No
Why? Because she was busy
Now what did Boboy do about it? He went to his teacher.
Why? He was going to tell her why he was late.
According to Boboy, he was late because…? Because he was tired of playing the other
day so he woke up late.
What did the teacher do after he She tapped his shoulders
confessed?
Why? Because his shoulders were shaking.
Did the teacher forgive Boboy? Why? Yes. Because he was being honest.
Is being honest good? Why? Yes! Because being honest will make other
people trust you.
B. During the Lesson

statements. The table below is based from my

If you may recall during your past years, what The effect is the result, and the cause is

That is right! The cause is the reason why


something happens and the effect is the result
of that reason or action.

Based on the story, how could we classify if the By the words, because and so
statement is either the cause or the effect?

Yes! They are called signal words or key words.


They signify that the statement that follows
is the cause.
Example: My classmate is hungry because he
did not eat breakfast.

What are the words that came after the word He did not eat breakfast.
“because”?
Is that the effect or the cause? Cause
And what is the effect? My classmate is hungry

Remember that after signal words, it indicates


the cause, however, not all cause and effect
statements have signal words.
Here is another story. Kindly read aloud.

Air pollution may be due to a lot of factors,


the most common of which are cause by
exhaust gases from vehicles have continuously
dominated the air especially in highly
urbanized towns and cities mainly because the
government lacks control and citizens prefer
convenience to the harmful effects. Likewise,
the government has not exercised good control
over the location of factories that emit gas
elsewhere.
More often than not, air pollution is caused
by natural events such as forest fires, volcanic
eruptions, wind erosion, and pollen dispersal.
