Here is our 3 minute pilot that we're looking


to build upon for this project:

Class of '09: The Anime

So WTF is Class of '09?


Class of '09 (not that mediocre FX show) is
a franchise that started in 2020 as a visual
novel on Itch.io and eventually Steam in
2021. It was unique as rather than being a
work of total fantasy, it was a choose-your-
own-adventure based entirely on real
events, encounters, and personalities.

It follows the sociopathic Nicole as she


takes on her last year of high school in
2008-2009. A few of Class of '09's
trademarks are earnest comedy, biting
social commentary, and amazing
voicework. Reviewers have considered it
one of the most accurate period pieces in
the history of media as a whole.
Many routes in the game are entirely
outlandish but simultaneously based in
reality to the point where it can be
unsettling to players...

After our 3 minute short's success over all


social media platforms, we're ready to take
the leap to the much more complex
medium of anime!

Goals and stretch goals

This campaign is to initially fund a short
that is roughly twice the length of our
original Class of '09 anime short. If the
demand is there, we would love if you
could take us to pilot length animation
budgets. All maintaining a high production
value no matter the duration.

The labor involved.


Creating your own anime from the ground
up is a very daunting process with many
layers of laborers to work on the same cuts
you see fully realized in any show coming
out today.
A single cut of anime includes the jobs of:

Storyboarding

Layout Artist

Sakkan (Animation Director)

Genga (Keyframe refinement)

Douga (inking and inbetween)

Color

Background Artist

Compositing

Multiply that process over 300 times and


you have a half-hour anime episode.

and we haven't even gotten to


character sheets, screenwriting,
voiceover, sound design, and
more...

Why you should back us


This is not a production team manned by
people who made one viral video and now
are looking to make bank. Class of '09 the
Anime will be led by award-winning artists
with at least a decade of experience in
producing cartoons, video games, albums,
live action films, and beyond.

Other goals for the entertainment


industry as a whole

We are looking for a proper budget to


increase the pay rates for the anime
pipeline artists we hire since the Japanese
studios of the industry have traditionally
payed extremely low (as anyone working in
it would tell you)

We'd also like to hold open auditions to


bring new artists into the process to
disrupt the tradition of nepotism American
entertainment is known for.

As big media continues the tradition of de-


listing original animation on Netflix and
HBOmax, our mission is to show that artists
working in this trade still hold value to
productions and their audiences across the
world.

Risks and challenges

In the event we secure the budget for this


episode, money will not be an issue as we
have set the goals to avoid any close
financial calls. The main issue when dealing
in anime production is time due to a severe
shortage of animators due to the constant
content crunch of anime in Japan. With the
funding and visibility of this Kickstarter,
we'll be able to expand our horizons in
terms of the people and studios we have
access to.
