Task 2: Major Individual Project: Research, Note Taking, Rough Drafts, and Final Essay for Assessment
Topic: An ugly riot occurred in Port Moresby and other centres in PNG on Wednesday 10 January 2024. This incident was
termed ‘Black Wednesday’ and went down in the history of PNG as the darkest day. What was the cause and the
effects of ‘Black Wednesday’ on PNG as a country, its economy and the individuals affected? Are the
actions/behaviors of the people involved justified?

1. Instructions
1) It is an individual project.
2) Read, understand and analyze the topic to identify the main ideas.
3) Research your main ideas and take notes in an organized manner using Cornell Note Taking Template.
4) Write the rough draft essay of 4 pages. Edit it using a red pen. Then, write your final draft, print and submit for
assessment together with your rough draft (2 copies).
5) Produce typed work using Time New Romans size 12 with 1.5 cm top, bottom and right margins. To accommodate for
binding, left margin must be 2 cm. Use a line space of 1.15 and double space for paragraphs and be consistent.
6) Bind all your work together into a booklet and hand it to any one of the five Tutors on the due date (03/05/24).
Each person will produce a booklet at the end of this major project.
