COC 2 SET UP COMPUTER NETWORKS

CONFIGURING ROUTER

1. Connect the UTP cable directly to client PC to router.


2. Reset Router
3. Login Username and Password
4. Go to interface set up, then go to Wireless.
5. Change SSID name (ex. Lastname Router)
6. Change Router password, then save.
7. Go to internet, disable the DHCP.
8. Change the IP Address of Router, then save.
9. The network for router back to switch.

CONFIGURING WAP (WIRELESS ACCESS POINT)

1. Connect the UTP cable directly to client PC to router.


2. Reset WAP
3. Login Username and Password
4. Go to Wireless, change the WAP Name (ex. Lastname WAP), then save.
5. Go to wireless security, change the WAP password, then save.
6. GO to network, change the WAP IP Address, then save, wait for rebooting.
(note: if you experienced errors, press power button (off) and turn on after,
then log in again.
7. Go to DHCP, then put the default gateway IP address.
8. Then next the DNS Server IP Address, then save.
9. The network for WAP back to switch.

CONFIGURING OF COMPUTER NAME (CLIENT AND SERVER)

>CLIENT PC

1. Windows + E
2. Select this PC, right click and properties.
3. Click change setting
4. Click change
5. Rename the Computer Name (ex. Yourname-Client)
6. Under in member of, In workgroup, type CSS.
7. Click OK
8. Click OK
9. Click OK
10. Close
11. Click restart now
12. PC restarting..

>SERVER PC
1. Windows + E
2. Select this PC, right click and properties.
3. Click change setting
4. Click change
5. Rename the Computer Name (ex. Yourname-Client)
6. Under in member of, In workgroup, type CSS.
7. Click OK
8. Click OK
9. Click OK
10. Close
11. Click restart now
12. PC restarting..

SETTING UP WINDOWS FIREWALL

>CLIENT PC

1. Right click network


2. Select open network and sharing center
3. Click windows firewall
4. Select allow an app or feature through windows firewall
5. Click change settings
6. Check the File and Printing Sharing
7. Check both private and public checkbox
8. Check NetLogon Service
9. Check both private and public checkbox
10. Check Network discovery
11. Check both private and public checkbox
12. Check Remote Desktop
13. Check windows firewall remote management
14. Check both private and public checkbox
15. Check windows remote management
16. Check both private and public checkbox
17. Done

>SERVER PC

1. Right click network


2. Select open network and sharing center
3. Click windows firewall

NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER

>CLIENT PC

1. Don’t close window


2. Click Network and sharing center
3. Click change advanced sharing settings
4. In private, Turn on network discovery and turn on file and printing sharing
and Allow windows ….
5. In Guest on Public, Turn on network discovery and turn on file and printing
sharing
6. In All networks, Turn on sharing as anyone and password is turn off only
7. Click save changes button.

>SERVER PC

1. Don’t close window


2. Click Network and sharing center

>CLIENT PC

1. Windows + R
2. Run services.msc, Enter.
3. Select function Discovery Resource Publication
4. Right click and properties
5. In startup type, select Automatic.
6. Click Start button.
7. Click Apply and OK
8. Select SSDP Discovery
9. Right click and properties
10. In startup type, select Automatic.
11. Click Start button.
12. Click Apply and OK
13. Select UPnP Device Host
14. Right click and properties
15. In startup type, select Automatic.
16. Click Start button.
17. Click Apply and OK
18. Done

>SERVER PC

1. Windows + R

SETTIG UP STATIC IP ADDRESS OF COMPUTER SERVER

1. Right click network


2. Select open network and sharing center
3. Click Change adapter settings
4. Right click Ethernet and properties
5. Uncheck IPv6
6. Select IPv4 and properties button.
7. Select Use the following IP address
8. Fil in the following:
 IP address (ex. 192.168.1.100) Note: use preferred IP address
 Subnet Mas: 255.255.255.0
 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Note: open CMD, type ipconfig/all to show preferred IP and more.
9. Select Use the following DNS server address
 Preferred DNS Server: Note use Server IP Address
10. Click OK
11. Click Close
12. Disable and Enable the Ethernet
13. In Client PC, Right click network
14. Select open network and sharing center
15. Click Change adapter settings
16. Right click Ethernet and properties
17. Uncheck IPv6
18. Select IPv4 and properties button.
19. Select Use the following DNS server address
 Preferred DNS Server: Note use Server IP Address
20. Click OK
21. Click Close
22. Start to Pinging both PC
23. In Server, open CMD
24. Type ping IP address of client and enter
25. In Client, open CMD
26. Type ping IP address of client and enter
27. Make sure both PC replying or check the two PC showed in Network
28. Done
