AUTONOMOUS
FLIGHT MODE 02
Autonomous flight mode is a flight mode
in which the drone is programmed to
follow a predetermined flight path without
the need for manual control. This flight
mode is made possible by the use of GPS
(Global Positioning System) and other
navigation systems.
POPULAR DRONES MANUFACTURERS
● DJI: is one of the leading drone manufacturers in the world,
offering a range of drones for both consumer and professional use.
Their Phantom series of drones is popular among consumers, The
Phantom 4 Pro features a 20-megapixel camera capable of
shooting 4K video at 60fps, and an extended flight time of up to 30
minutes.
● Parrot: is a French drone manufacturer that offers a range of
drones for both consumer and professional use. Their Bebop
series of drones is popular among consumers, The Bebop 2 Power
features a 14-megapixel camera capable of shooting 1080p video
at 60fps and has a flight time of up to 30 minutes.
● Yuneec: is a Chinese drone manufacturer that offers a range of
drones for both consumer and professional use. Their Typhoon
series of drones is popular among consumers, with the Typhoon H

PLANNING
PROCESS
Flight Planning and Execution Process
The drone flight planning and execution procedure typically involves the following
steps:
• Determine the mission requirements: Determine the purpose of the flight,
the area to be covered, and any specific requirements for data collection or
payload delivery.
• Check airspace regulations: Check the local airspace regulations and obtain
any necessary permits or authorizations for the flight.
• Assess the site: Assess the site for potential hazards, such as obstacles or
weather conditions, and identify a safe and suitable takeoff and landing area.
• Plan the flight path: Plan the flight path, taking into account the mission
requirements, the site assessment, and any applicable regulations. This includes
setting the altitude, speed, and direction of the drone, as well as defining
waypoints or areas of interest to be covered.
• Configure the drone: Configure the drone, including setting up the camera or
payload, checking the battery level, and calibrating the sensors and GPS.
Flight Planning and Execution Process
• Conduct pre-flight checks: Conduct pre-flight checks, including a visual
inspection of the drone, a check of the radio link and telemetry data, and a test
flight to verify the stability and control of the drone.
• Launch the drone: Launch the drone and monitor its flight path and data
collection in real-time.
• Conduct the mission: Conduct the mission according to the planned flight
path, making adjustments as necessary based on real-time data and observations.
• Monitor the drone: Continuously monitor the drone during the flight to
ensure it stays within the planned flight path and avoids any obstacles or hazards.
• Return the drone: Return the drone to the designated landing area and ensure
it is safely and securely landed.
• Post-flight checks: Conduct post-flight checks, including a review of the data
collected, a check of the drone for any damage, and a review of the flight logs.
• Data analysis: Analyze the data collected to achieve the mission objectives,
such as creating a map or 3D model, or extracting specific information from the
data.

Ground control points (GCPs)
Ground control points (GCPs) are identifiable and measurable
points on the ground that are used to ensure accurate
georeferencing of aerial imagery captured by drones or other
remote sensing platforms.
