Direction: List down definitions of literature.

There are many different kinds of literature, such as poetry, plays, or novels.

works of poetry and prose distinguished by the intentions of their authors and the
perceived aesthetic excellence of their execution.

4. Writings having excellence of form or expression and expressing ideas of permanent or

or age.

AFRO-ASIAN LITERATURE

Lesson 1: African Literature

The Gentlemen of the Jungle

The story shows the equality, justice and rights, rights to give your own opinion, to
defend your side. This story reflects the attitude of the people toward the laws that is needed to
be followed and given equally to each and everyone.
In our lives I realize how important it is to make other people defend their side most
especially by knowing really what is true and giving the due process before judging them. I also
encounter such situations where I became so aware of what will I have do the next time, if I feel
that a person seems so narrow minded I will be the person who will adjust in the situation and I
stay away from them. The story somehow reflects an act of kindness is understand as weakness
by the elephant which is an act of selfishness and taking advantage to a friend whose only
intention was to was to help because the man symbolizes the true spirit of friendship that is
willing to help those who are in need. I somehow found a friend who is worthy to be called the
best of friends but I also had encounter friends who would take advantage of my kindness which
is far enough of me to stay away from them. It is true that one true friend is enough than having a
million fake friends. Nevertheless, since the story was written by an African author I understand
how he relate this story describing how the colonizers gives injustice although there are laws
which is only given to the people and the highest authority as exempted on it just like the
government and the people. The laws are useless if it use against what is right and just. All
people even at the highest authority must be following and that whenever someone made a
mistake it is the right of everyone to be given due process to defend their side. Life is
challenging and people are adapting to it, the thing is whenever I encounter situations just like
what the man had, I would become just like the man. I will take my patience long enough to take
the advantage of other people as long as I can hold on to it but if action would be too much I will
not let those people belittle me. Good things will always come to those who wait for their time
and when it is I am accompanying always with prayers.

 The end of the story gives a maxim of "Peace is costly, but it's worth the expense" is
ironically used in the story showing the understanding that there is the urge of freedom that will
remain alive in each in everyone and all sacrifices, humility and hardships will be given and
consider worthy of the effort. To conclude, everybody involved should feel good about the
decision; however, if the others take advantage of you, you should stand your ground and fight
for yourself. You have rights too. Use your strengths in life and be wise just like the man in the
story he used the animal's greediness to work against each other. The meek overcome the
mighty.

To Whom Should I Speak Today

I choose this stanza,

“To whom should I speak today?

I am laden with misery,
And am without a comforter.”

This stanza indicates sorrows that the person needs to breathe out discomfort and release the
feeling of being in pain or in anger.
I could say that there is always a time that everybody is caught between depression and inner
conflict from within. I have different struggles that I have encounter in life and all of us have that
different struggle. I can say that no matter how strong we are we all need someone to listen to
our problems whenever we feel that our life was doomed by circumstances, sometimes all we
need is someone who would ease what burdens we have been carrying in our heart and mind.
The line also speaks about discomforts from and heartaches. It is a challenging to live each day
facing a new beginnings and new struggles that creates discomforts and dismay that hinders our
own happiness and peace. In our life we encounter people who are good at first but as time pass
by their color changes to what they really are. Nowadays, people are wise and clever in
approaching and saying words, most of the time we give out trust, loyalty, care and love to the
people whom we give value but in the end it us who will stand on our own, it is still our self that
would be left because people come and go. We may be having comrades but certainly we have to
accept the fact that some people was not meant to stay with us even if we want to.
From the stanza that I choose it says how important it is to say or speak to the people
what they need to hear and talk to them while they are with us because we didn’t know what they
go through to let them feel that there is someone who cares and loved and that they deserved to
be loved and cared for no matter who they are. As from the famous line said “ No man is an
island”, we cannot live without another so if we have someone who are important to us and even
other people around who are good to us, we should cherish every moment and time with them
because happiness, understanding and peace is what matters in everyone in order not to feel
excluded but rather to feel loved.

Lesson 2: Hebrew Literature

Psalm 23 – Psalm of David

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.”

I choose this stanza because in this penultimate verse, David recounts his life. Because he
is resolute to rely on good shepherd for the rest of his life, his needs will be met, he will be
guided, and he will be forgiven through mercy. He will never forsake us, and He will see to it
that justice prevails. After all, “Who can ever be against us if God is for us?” When we allow
God to shepherd us, we may rest assured that His compassion and mercy will pursue us every
day. With God's love and goodness around us, we can spend every day in His presence until we
spend eternity with Him. And that He blesses and challenge us differently and for the rest of our
life to become more righteous in his kingdom.

Lesson 3: Arabian Literature

On Work

The physical nature of toil is well understood to the ploughman, a man who tills the soil.
What he appears to be missing is the greater purpose of labor, as well as the significance of
working with compassion. Doing with love is working as if the beloved were the intended
recipient of what labor produces. When work is done with love, it becomes honorable. Work
done without passion produces an indifferent, inferior end product which must be avoided at all
cost.
For me, the work of Khalil Gibran give us an understanding of how we should love the
work with in order to create reap a fruitful life. There are so many people who feel something
from mellow to dreadful discomfort. Just like when we are young we have a vision of how the
world can be and how we believe in it. Then we sacrifice for most of us these dreams and our
values too often, and adhere to responsibility and survival. Often until years later life traps us
into a change of life, which forces us to reflect on our position in the natural world. Most of the
time as a student, I learn to love what I do most especially when it comes to school work I love
doing it because I want to have good result for what I do I am happy if my hard work will be
paid after everything I have done to it. Since we are in this time of pandemic life really
challenges me, it challenges us as a whole. I sometimes feel to do my school works just to pass
on time for the deadline it was like a survival for me because I am also a working student and so
I manage my time in doing my modules and other things which gives me a late night sleep and I
was not working for it because I love doing it but rather because there is a deadline. This is the

reality of life as a student and I know I am not the only one who experiences it. But in the end I
still love what I do because I have goals and plans in life which I need to fulfill and that what I
do now will be the way to get there. When I love doing what I do gives me a great feeling after
finishing it, and that it was actually I have made something which is beyond my capabilities
realizing that I can actually do it when I think I couldn’t which gives me also a hope that in each
day whenever I had a hard things to do I cst8ill can manage it for I am doing it with love and so I
can do it myself to. It was like a ripple of change that could happen when everything is done with
love, because at some point you’ll come to realize that it satisfies you because you know it has a
good result. It's not always work, sure, and every person's work looks different. However, every
loving relationship that I know requires work in thinking about it. Parents spend tens of billions
of hours working hard to look after, nurture, shelter and teach their children. Romantic
relationships if they last long enough always make it through and that relationship last because
people make sufficient effort to reconcile these issues so that the underlying love can flourish. I
think theier is still a place for unconditional love in my experience of living and watching other
people that unconditional love doesn’t stretch as far as people think. Love is work that’s a good
thing.
An attitude of love unites in life aspect which means to work as if the work was for
someone we love. Everything is transformative, an attitude of love for the work. Love is an
undertaking to do as much as possible. Work is empty without an enduring love, and its quality
is mediocre and shoddy. It was like the way the soul works gives it a divine quality to its
creation. Then the work becomes “love made visible”

Lesson 4: Persian Literature

The Rubaiyat
Omar Khan
Translated by: Edward FritzGerald

Any reader attempting to sort through Omar Khayyam's Rubaiyat's strong symbolism and
less-than-obvious theme will face an unusual challenge. Not only does the poem tell a gripping
story on the surface, but a closer examination of the language revealing a multitude of different
meanings.
“Come, fill the Cup, and in the Fire of Spring
The Winter Garment of Repentance fling:
The Bird of Time has but a little way
To fly – and Lo! the Bird is on the Wing.”

I choose the 7th stanza of the poem because this state that we don’t have to regret the past
but live for today for life is short. An interesting way of explaining the bird to the life that needs
to be seen as it is sacred. To drink and eat and enjoy, be merry in the midst of our life and the
past had happen so it was a part of us which made what we are today. The melancholy of life is

always there but so is the joy and bliss in what we choose to have and choose to do. We as a
person may think that our life has more to discover and that we must value each day we live
because that what we realize when we are aging, we have bigger things and purpose but seems
that life is too short for it. “ To fly and Lo! The bird is on the wing”, this symbolizes that we
should be free and continue to rise and reach our greatest purpose in life.

Lesson 5: Indian Literature

Look To This Day

Kalidasa

“For yesterday is but a dream

And tomorrow is only a vision;
And today well-lived, makes
Yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well therefore to this day;
Such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn!”

This poem most especially the stanza that I choose is a perfect piece of wisdom for
everyone. This shows you today's importance. The fact that you can breathe provides you with a
range of possibilities, a choices of possible courses of action from which you can sensibly make.
To live in a moment means not worrying about the past nor not fearing what will happened in the
future and that it talks about the importance of the past, present and future. This poetry inspires
you to live in the present rather than the past or the future. If you spend your present wisely, it
will provide you with joyful memories tomorrow and lay the groundwork for what is ahead. As a
result, it emphasizes the need of not being carried away by the past or the future, as well as a
reminder to focus on now because it contains all of the "moralities and realities of your
existence." Always choose to be happy and love yourself first and don’t just live but you must
also exist. No matter what yesterday brings, it is a lesson and it is today that counts and what
tomorrow holds is a hope.

Lesson 6: Japanese Literature

The Spider’s Thread

Ryuunosuke Akutagawa

This story gives a valuable lesson about attitude of a person. It remind us of what God
has taught in the Bible and let us always bear in mind the saying, “There is nothing impossible
with God."

Selfishness is like creating your own storms then gets upset when it rains. While reading
the story I thought of something really positive outcome from the end but it turns out that
Kandata’s selfishness didn’t save him. Just like in life between what is good and bad. We as
people have purpose to do good so that in return we are also blessed with goodness, likewise if
we choose to do on doing awful things then we will also reap a terrible result. Buddha is a
powerful god but still he forgives what Kandata had done. Just like God, He ignores a millions
sins that a person committed by looking at the smallest good deeds he/she created. So many
times God appears in from of us, He appears in my mother forgiving me on the mistake that I
have made, He has his presence when I have a friend who saves and help me when I get in
trouble and in such ways God appears to us in many ways but most of the time people ignores
what is the good thing right behind them and the worst part is that they don’t share this blessing
to others because of their selfishness this is not just pertaining to the material things but also to
our attitudes we showed to others. This is sometimes related to what we had a plan or intentions
that we need to do but it ended up to be failed, that is because God knows if what you are doing
is right or wrong and so if it failed then God must have a purpose of doing it and by that, you
will be the one will get embarrassed at your own miserable thoughts and actions. God only teach
and us the good deeds and help us in by any means so whenever that time comes it is important
to reflect on the right thing to do to become worthy to save, help and blessed. As what has God
said in the book of Hebrews, “And do not forget to do well and to share with others, for with
such sacrifices God is pleased” and you will also be blessed with goodness. Our life was meant
for doing the right thing and as we take or decisions each day we must ponder on if our decision
and what we say are good or not, if will it hurt others?, or will it can do good to me and to
others?. If we do such wrong things then it is not useless to think, to plan and to create decisions
and utter words for it only gives nothing but a sin. Sometimes we are forgiven by our mistake by
other people and give us chances to make things out again between them but God knows
everything. I have friends who have done something wrong with me and I forgive them easily
but sad to say God always makes a ways for me to know what they really are, I don’t even
discover things but it’s just right there coming with me that those people whom I call friends,
whom I once forgive was ruining me in front of other people when I do nothing to them but a
genuine friendship. And so their goes a broken trust and then I stay away from them. I was not
selfish, I am always giving my best help and give a genuine attitudes with the people and if I had
things to say, I say it frankly in order to explain my side and to hear the other side to clify things
out and ended as we’re good again. Selfishness will drive us near form what we really are and
God knows it so He gives us lessons to reflect.

 God revealed the same thing in the Bible, especially in our religious beliefs. Even if we
are sinful, if we do good things that God appreciates, we may be given a chance to receive God's
help. God has a lot of compassion for those who do the right thing. God is good, and he is
willing to pursue and rescue a person who has attracted him because of his excellent works.

Lesson 7: Philippine literature

Footnote To Youth

Reflecting on the story I had a lot of troubles as a student and as a person, that I
regret - problems that I overcome that led to unanswered questions Why should innocent
children suffer as a result of their parents' mistakes? I became exhausted and restless after being
denied the insight to solve life's concerns. This is the way life is, and this is the way youth is.
Through time and experience, we learn the answer. We are continually attempting to meet life's
challenges. Feel the discomfort, grow tired and weary, but that is life. The problematic aspect is
that we are consistently denied answers to life's most pressing concerns. But, no matter how
many times we fail to receive that answer, life will eventually provide it to us that is how life
works it must be moodily sweet. Along the process of selecting lines, I found myself realizing
myself as a youth that the story is giving me the sense of waiting will always be worthy at the
end. I just realize how difficult it is for the parents to raise children in order to have a good life in
the future but the in short time that it was so easy for the youth to decide without even thinking
possibilities that could happen in the future. We certainly cannot deny the fact that we sometimes
rush into a decision because of what we feel pain its either pain or excitement that is why we
must have the key thing is that we learn from our mistakes and never make a decision without
giving it a lot of thought. I believe that making a decision without first considering what might
happen in the future is not a good idea. I know at my generations it still happened, in today's
society is similar in that I see young females who get married early or become pregnant, but
afterwards regret why they got married early because most of them decide to split due to
financial difficulties that prevent them from meeting their family's needs. All of this is due to the
fact that they married at such a young age that they have no idea what will happen in the future.
This will be the burden of the whole family. I also realize that the parent were just silence of
what they must taught and have said to Dodong. I reckon that if only they have taught Dodong
and give advices that time would not be too late for Dodong to encounter the life he never
expected to have. I could say that Dodong is just lack of the values and advices as well as
guidance and explanations of his parents to know what is the right thing for him to do and
understand. It is therefore parents are always there for us to advice and taught us lessons of life
what must be done in order to have a good life in the end our parents loves to us happy and
having that kind of life they always wanted for us and it is not only the happiness you can give to
your parents but also their trust seeing that you can manage on your own because you are
knowledgeable enough to understand life and has that stable life. By that the parents will not
leave you worrying about your future and so if ever there is something that our parents might
have done in the past we will break the point of history repeats itself by always looking at the
bigger picture of possibilities and consequences beyond what really life is because it’s not just all
about happiness but also sacrifices, courage, having a plan and goals and reaching our greatest
purpose.

 Ignorance and selfishness leads to hardships, So wait for the perfect timing, because in
the end it is still you who will face the consequence. This story tells us that there is perfect time
for everything. You just need to wait and decide carefully. Think the possibilities in every
decision we make. Listen for the advices given to you. Think twice and decide well because the
results of your decision can affect your future.

This story reflects agony of a parent towards his child. The love of the parent will always
be different from anyone else in the world. It is enduring, nurturing and constant.
In what I have understand through this story is that parents love will always be different.
If they lost their child nothing compares to their grief. In the story the author explains to cope up
with his grief and want to link his pain to make his creativity and art better. In life when we
mourn about our lost loved ones we sometimes look for another enjoyment or leisure in order to
forget the bitter feelings that we feel towards what happened because we cannot accept and it
give us so much pain to see the life that had been taken away from us even if we are not ready
yet. Same as in life as a person who has loved ones I can’t imagine being left by my loved ones
or even my special someone, I mean all of us do not want to be left not because we are alone but
because of the memories and by the love that bind us that we want to treasure every moment and
time to be with them forever. Just like in the story when we lost someone we loved we reminisce
the moment we had with them and then realize what could be the things that we should have
accomplished when they are still with us, how we want to spend more time and most importantly
to accomplished our goals with them. It is indeed a great loss once it life that has been taken with
us that we have to grieve and wait until we will be healed. But we must always remember that
there will be two grief the first thing is the loss and the second is the remaking of the life after
encountering in such grief that you must be able to stand up again no matter how hard you have
been through. I guess we just have to be strong enough to face the reality of life there are things
that are meant to stay and disappear in our life the life it painful that it marks in our memories
leaving us lessons and understanding what really is, leaving us questions and keeping us strong
in life and continue to healed until it will all become our past. My grandfather died when I was at
a young age but what I most feared is my parents, I always wanted them with me forever, I love
them so much and still have goals and plans for them so I keep on praying and working hard for
my future for them. On the other hand, I have been to the things that I wanted in life but I lose in
aiming for it. Just like what the author feels in the story I felt pain and anger, I feel sorry and
disappointed for myself, most especially when there is expectations, expectations not just on
your own but also what others is expecting to you. But, in the end I’ll be making that as
motivation and will not care what others would expect me as long as I do my best and trust
myself progressing silently having peace and happiness in my soul because that what matters the
most. It might takes times to adjust and accept criticism because of the failure I have done but I
know for myself that God is making ways for me to overcome it.

 I then think that truly, we should accept the fact that everything in this world is temporary
and that time will come that all of us will go back and spend our afterlife with our God since we
are just a steward of our life we just have to make use and cherish every time as we live with our
loved once. We should also learn to let them go and moves on because there are still people who
needs us and depends on us and most importantly we have so much more in life to reach
knowing that everything has a purpose, we can always have possible things to happen and make
circumstances as motivation or encouragement to make us better and continue living for our life
instead of thinking negativities.

The Will Of The River

This story gives courage and determination to continue a journey despite the
obstacles or hindrances. It talks about the life of man on earth.
As I was reading the story the lesson that is always visible is that the river is
likened to human life. All of us have this undeniable fact that there are many trials and problems
that we encounter in life. I have many problems in life which often makes me cry because I have
nothing to do with it but to accept it and then just have my patience and endure the adversaries
which I feel sometimes get dismayed and discourage and yes I have questioned myself many
times why I had to encounter those circumstances when I am actually weak. People may see me
as a strong person but I am really not, but just like the river, I still persevere and do not lose hope
just like the river. It speaks about determination which means that if you cannot overcome the
situation or problems at least undercome it. What always make us discouraged is that our vision
of giving up that we might not endure the problems it gives us, that it gives us pain and seems to
cripple our chances and hope but the thing is we must have determination if we cannot overcome
then just stick to the plan of not giving up. When things get rough we must not quit, just stick to
the fight that no matter what life throws at you, you will always get through it. Furthermore, like
the river that had been a great use to all living things around it, I realize that we don’t just have to
live in order to enjoy our own happiness, in order to fulfill our future, in order to mind our own
blessings but instead we also have to live and be a blessings to others. A journey which in our
way also there are people who needed our help even in a small matter, it create a big difference
because sometimes God also answers the prayer of other through you as the instrument. I realize
that as we take our journey along our way we should also be grateful, having a humility and a big
heart to nurture the people around you with a genuine love and care. Live not just by your own
expense but also for others that is being generous. That is why the river exists; it has a purpose
not only for itself but also for other creatures to benefit. Somehow, this is the noble reason for
our existence on earth. I mean for me, I am not just living for myself but I lived firstly by God
and for other people. If nature which we consider devoid of feelings or emotions like the river
fulfills its duty rightfully, how much more for we as humans was created by God with his own
image, with emotions, intellect and will. I say that one must also consider his responsibility to
others and must solemnly see the need to care and have compassion for others. God is the source
of our goodness and hope that we may also have hope in our battles and see the goodness by
caring about others.
It is always visible in our everyday life that there are occurrences we can always relate
our life with; pleasant or displeasing no matter what it is, the key to success and achieving one's

goals is optimism. Along with that, I hope that everyone else is able to complete their purpose
and enjoy the journey they are on. Have the fortitude and God's blessing to tackle the challenges
ahead. God is there to help us no matter what obstacles we face. Following in the footsteps of the
river and its tremendous example, we will carry out our own responsibilities, regardless matter
how big or minor the interference will be. And we'll always remember that if we persevere, hope,
optimism, and courage, we'll be able to stroll through life with smiles on our cheeks, lifted spirit,
with our eyes and hearts set on our aspirations.

The Visitation Of The Gods

Gilda Cordero-Fernando’s

I highly compliment the author for depicting most of the situation done by the school
administrators when the visitation of the superintendent or higher rank visits the school. The
narrative demonstrates how difficult it is to maintain one's enthusiasm in raising educational
standards in the country, particularly in public schools and it is always the children that suffer in
the end. It depicts the reality of what is going on when it comes to pretending.
The lesson I learned is “Don't squander your time in a world where hard work isn't valued
or appreciated”, it is the first things I’ve understand in while understanding the story. It is
shameless to state that this is the reality of school administrations, where preserving one's zeal
and energy in raising the country's educational standards is a problem. Traditions, Beliefs, and
Cultures One of the traditions we have up till now is that whenever someone in a higher position
comes to visit schools, we tend to go above and above to impress them. We even strive to
instruct our pupils on proper behavior, such as avoiding loitering or going outside the room. To
prove that we are disciplined when there are guest. As a student taking up Bachelor in
Elementary Education it is a great realization for me to know what is really my purpose in life
when I become a teacher someday. A teacher should be the one who teaches, who educates.
He/she is responsible of the eruditions and even for the future of every one of tomorrow’s best
doctors, lawyers, politicians, and other professions the children wants in future. Teachers are the
way to reach the goals and dreams of the children by imparting knowledge, values and other
things which they can use later in the future that what matters the most. But the story tells the
other way around: what matters is not how well one teaches but how well one has learned the art
of pleasing the powers. The more powerful you are, the more you can be pleasurable and
popular, the easier the tasks you do. The less power you have, the less opportunity you will have,
the more you will be oppressed by those with power. Those who do well, who do what is
supposed to be done, are those who are receiving less, who are being disliked and is clearly an
inequality of the system in the Philippines, especially the Educational System. Personal attention
is one thing which sets back traditional schools as I have witnessed certain teachers going about
their business without taking much notice of their students or about maintenance of positive
classroom environment. The quote “Great power comes with great responsibility” form the
movie spiderman, really has something to do with the situation on the story as a leader you must
be true to your words and actions not just by doing good because there are eyes that sees you or
because there are ears hearing you or because you are highly concern for your own good and for

the credits. Another insight also highlights the Filipino attitude toward competitiveness. Personal
and professional development can be misconstrued as a threat to another man's career or power.
It's more likely to be misunderstood as "boasting", more like it was like the teacher who are
doing their job right are considered as unpleasant and while others who do the opposite things is
being praised. The situation can be also reflected to the teacher and the children, sometimes
teacher doesn’t play fair role in the academic performance and play “favoritism”, teachers may
say that that the system of education has nothing to do with personal issues when they are
actually doing the contrary to it and I have known such kind of teachers ever since when I was in
my elementary grades. Teacher as we are must become the role model for the children and they
must foresee in us the right thing in life. You choose to be a teacher then take right responsibility
to a rightful leadership not just for the children but also for your co-teachers or co-leaders. I
believe that a leader do not create followers but rather create another good leader, because when
we learn from other people we also become a leader for others we take the lead and others can.
Keeping in mind that being a leader must always have the virtue of doing the right thing even if
it makes you different from others and we must do that by any means.

“Determination is worth pursuing”, just like the teacher Ms. Noel though, there are lots of
people telling her to give up teaching for more salary but then her willingness to teach her
students is priceless. She knows that, for the children to achieve their dreams, the teachers
guidance is very valuable. In so, Ms. Noel’s determination succeeded. We must always adhere to
our responsibilities and duties as a teacher and as a leader so we may become worthy to be called
as Teacher that teach with heart to it.

Gambling will not do any good to you, gambling does not benefit anyone, especially
those in our immediate vicinity. It can lead to wrong doings or the worst is stealing and the worst
thing is it will ruin family relationships. Man's fixation with attaining wealth under ilegal
circumstances.
Men are so engrossed in grooming and caring for their cocks that they don't mind
spending time with their loved ones. The cockfight is a symbolism for the hardships that
everyone faces in their regular social lives. It depicts social tensions and how things lead to the
creation of wicked grip and manipulations. They feel that is the simplest and most effective
approach to acquire money. This is to realize that desires, just as in life, can truly damage a
person's decisions since they obstruct one's thinking and focus all of one's attention on how to
fulfill one's desires. As a student I realize how difficult it is to deal with the lessons and taking
quizzes of exams but no matter what happened or no matter how difficult it is for me, I still
manages to answer it on my own capabilities without doing the wrong things like cheating, but I
have seen a lot of student cheating as if it was there habit which is not good for them at the end, I
even ask myself if what had been God has ever give them after doing such a thing. I am thankful
that I am not like them at all, I had taken an exam or quizzes that I even got the lowest score, not
even half of if, that time I cried and I feel so disappointed with myself because ther are certain
criticism that I am starting to hear from others and I feel shy with that but then, I am grateful for
myself because I do my best without doing the wrong things. I can relate this not just as a student

but also as a person living in everyday life dealing with others, I know many people whom play
tricks on me on how to deal with me, this is also pertaining to a fake friends who loves to
backstab you but is really good most especially if they need something from you, they love to
ruin your reputation to other people but once in your life or always you had been good to them
also. I somehow think that to the people who envy us, we will not be good in there story and
when the time comes that they are with us, all we need to do is to go with the flow with them
which even makes me think that I played being that plastic person because I already know the
truth but still I play along with it. With this situation mostly people will just benefit from you but
ruining your side without you knowing it. Just like in the cockpit, person will always find a way
even at risk and against good in order to get what they want. The lesson is, if it is always done, it
will going to become a habit, then leads to the worst situation. My family had never gamble for
money, I was so proud of my parents and siblings because whenever we have that blessings with
us it will always because of our hardwork, persevere and effort in order to gain it. My father
works in the farm and his hands might be dirty in doing lots of work, but what he had is a clean
money. The gambling of in the story will not just reflect playing the cockpit, but also in our life,
it also refers to playing tricks, cheating, gain benefits from others and many more that will in
turn result to have good relationships of individual. The story most importantly point out the
importance of family bond which is the first thing that must become strong, because nowadays
most people needs money in order to sustain the family basic needs and other necessities and if
money gets involved there will always be quarrel and worst is factions and problems will arise so
it is important to refrain from doing the wrong things if not the obsession will become stronger in
a possible mean that sometimes leads to ruin a family bond.

It is all about life, It's a way of indicating that you might be dealt a poor hand. This means
that whether we are born into a poor or wealthy environment, or into any other existence, it
makes no difference because every hand is a winning or losing hand, you make it what it is. We
carve our own route, whether it is correct or not. The play's goal was for us to recognize what is
important and what you must hold on to, as well as when things are becoming hazardous and
when to flee if necessary. You can win no matter what hand life has dealt you if you play your
cards right.

“True Love waits”, I believe everything is worth the wait when you are aiming and
having the patience to get it but also it must be evident through your actions.
The way I understand and relate myself to the story and in real life is that it teaches us
principles in a straightforward way. The narrative seeks to remind us all that the trust between
you and your partner is essential in any relationship. That no matter what happens; you will
remain loyal to your loved one. We must likewise use caution in making any decisions we make
in order to avoid regret. Falling in love is the best feeling a person can have, but also the most
painful one if it ended up with a regrets. In life just like Tinang on the story some relationship

makes a twist because she married another when she already have found her true love. It may be
difficult for her because her lover was far away from her but what I understand is that time that
they were far from each other that must be the test for Tinang of how she will remain faithful to
his lover and wait for the right time because as what I can see on Amado true love has its plan
for their future because he wanted to become a mechanical engineer someday and the Bagobo
were a simple man who is satisfied for being a farmer, I see Amado as a person who gives
importance of their future. This is another lesson to ponder on since if we love a person we also
must choose someone who are willing to wait and have plans for your future a good future for
your family and a person that will make you happy and where you can feel the true essence of
love. Love is not just doing care inside attitude of the person and its physical appearance but also
caring for the two of you to reach a good future and grow in love that forgives, understands,
willingness to wait for that time. We all needs to wait in everything we wanted to have in life
because everything cannot be done in a glimpse of an eye, it is always link with our actions to
gain what we aim for in life thats why we struggle, we sacrifice, we work hard for it and we
embrace every moment as we reach it one by one, and as we journey to our future we will realize
and learn lessons while taking hardships or battles in life. In the story when we are struck by
challenges it’s always been difficult to deal most especially if we cannot endure the pain or the
struggles, we must be strong and when giving up we must look on the bigger picture of
possibilities and positivity. Another thing that I noticed is that we have choices in life, each one
of us must discern our decision if well it makes a good result in the end not just for us but for
those whom we are with in life. In the story Tinang married the Bagobo which is not apparently
a chance but her choice because she did not wait for Amado which is at the end she realize that
Amado truly love her and her thoughts are wrong and most importantly she regret what she has
done that she asked God not to punish her and she has nothing to do with her decision but to
accept the consequences and the decisions she made in her life. Indeed destiny is not a matter of
fate but a matter of personal decision. If you decide to be with the one you love then you must be
willing to wait that no matter how difficult the situation and how far the distance between the
two of you, you must be willing to wait for that time that you will embrace each other with no
what if’s and doubts because everything is at its place, so the right time will always come to
those who wait and the nothing can compares to the joy it well bring in your life. You just have
to become strong, faithful, loyal, true and always understands each other side because in love it’s
not always happiness, it is always tailed with problems as a challenge for each of you to become
stronger so that if the right time comes you’ll both have lessons in life and realize that you made
have it that far while slowly reaching each one of the goals, plans and dreams for the both of
you. Embracing each other’s beautiful soul with God in the center of it. Prayer and actions will
always be the best ingredients in facing life challenges while loving and caring for each other.
“True love waits”, it is indeed the reality that we all understand. If you love a person
embrace and wait for the right time because each one of you are still busy doing the things that is
for the future. Love is not measured by materials things or by how long you have been together
or by his/her presence everyday but by the moment you decide to be with that person in your life
for a lifetime, you will foresee and take her/him as part of your life and as part of your goals and
plans everyday most especially for the future. We create our own destiny and when in love,

Unconditional love is shown not by material things and wealth but by willingness to
sacrifice. Unconditional love is rare and is a difficult thing by all types of love that everyone can
offer. The highest form above all love.
In the story, the most significant message appears to be that love is a natural and
powerful force that cannot be resisted; it overpowers reason and logic; and it transforms
individuals. At the beginning just like the story when we love we always has this strong desires
which sometimes are impossible to happened nonetheless, it is in us that if we will fight and
never change our love for that person it well all be a bliss in life. Federigo never change his love
for Monna even though he became poor. It is evident in the story that a person who finds true
love will not be attracted to the pleasure things just like Monna, at first no matter what Federigo
had done like organizing a feast or other things still Monna is not attracted to it. But above all
Federigo love is unchanging that he has nothing to think but to make his loved one happy. Life
must be full of challenges in love but as what I have experienced is that just like Federigo I have
nothing to pray but the happiness of the person I love the most. It’s the love I offer freely. Love
perseveres that it will always find its way to where it must belong. I don’t base love by someone
who does in me in return. Love is about faithfulness to the one you really care about. As I finish
understanding the story I remember what the priest had during his homily in the church. We have
types of love and as what I realize on the story it gives us the lesson of eros and agape types of
love wherein the eros kind of love pertains to the relationship of Federigo and Monna because of
the romantic love they had, and the most highest form of love which is agape as what the priest
had said, the love of God for us, unending, inseparable and pure just like the mother’s love or
parents love towards their children and it gives no boundaries for no matter. But it is love
endures and unwavering that it conquers all and willing it give it all. The love that continues to
give and strive for what it must accomplish despite poverty and nothingness. What I always think
is that there will be great blessings at the end. You might struggle now from what hurts you or
from what makes you feel giving up but always choose not to give up because love will always
finds it way and know that God sees you and feel your heart, if we choose to trust him, and
become committed to Him, our plans and goals in life will be reached with no regrets and doubts
in loving the person we want to introduce to God, to our parents and be proud about having for a
lifetime for the rest of your life.
We may become like Federigo in the story and a symbolism of falcon that speak about
victory, success and rising above challenging situation where at its core signifies the protection,
where in love you feel safe because love protects and do not give distress, wisdom where you
have to learn to know and discern what is right and wrong most importantly in our decisions and
the vision to foresee a bigger picture of the challenges that good things takes time and that if you
truly love the person in the until the end your love must be unchanging in loving the person not
just on the first place. As I believe the remorse in our life is only a test with which keeps us
stronger to face every situation in life and all of your struggles and sacrifices will pay off if you
hold on tighter and wait long enough, if you remain faithful and prove that your love is genuine.

A significant work that addresses issues that are still relevant in today's society, such as
issues of power and authority, the feeling of being pulled in so many directions by many
obligations, the question of what constitutes true democracy, and so on.
The tells about the power, authority and duty which must be done according not by our
expense but for the sake of the many. Dr. Stockman gives true democracy that gives his power to
let his community know what is really the problem from the baths, his authority to lead the
people to know the truth and his duty to help the people by first informing them about the
problem but society compromises personal desires and beliefs. Despite the fact that these two
aspects are for the greater good of society, society can and does ostracize individuals for such
personal desires and credences. This has always been a challenge if you want to make something
greater good for all by telling the truth people will somehow judge you as if you were the enemy
or the wrong one. In our society today it is always apparent how life is full of twist , we live in a
society where the people are happy with the lie and turned away from the truth. People are afraid
to know there faults accept lessons in life. They always wanted to be heard but they don’t listen
to others and as a person who stands alone in such battle it will never be easy if people around
you are ignorant of the truth disregard to withstand for it. You cannot please or force the
unwilling for it is engrave in their mind and heart their own beliefs and what you may offense
their ego and this reason is plausible that when we hear those words that we like we get angry
easily without widening our thoughts to it, if it is a negative thing for us, think of the positive
view behind those. We are all have been bestowed with multiple duties. As a person whome a
speaker of the truth, I learn that you must not also rushed into things by taking actions
immediately without taking a deeper thoughts on your decisions if you pushed your ideas to an
issue that cannot be easily resolved. We must not be blinded and has to stuck at our own ideals
which will inevitably take us at risk. What I understand on Mr. Stockman side is that his
stubbornness caused him to part from the society which makes him as an enemy of the people.
When the plan is to help the others but because we in the wrong time it makes us an unfavorable
person to others. it is therefore to plan and think wisely of our actions that we must always instill
to our mind so that we must not failed to see what is the logical and rational things to give out.
Although Mr. Stockman had good intentions he failed due to his own absurdity and not
thinking of other options for the sake of the town. In life it is also important to listen to other
opinions or ideas to see a several options because although seeking the truth is crucial, learning
to be flexible is much more so. It’s just that sometimes there is more appropriate technique to
handle the problem at times. We are not always right, it important to listen and reflect on others
suggestions also which can also turn our plans become more efficient and effective preferably. In

our society we have to demonstrate how important it is for each generation to protect democracy.
Above all, defend the individual against the multitude so that we will have a peaceful community
to live in.

From Faust: Prologue in Heaven

The Lord is the ideal of perfection that men strive for. As we live our life her on earth we
also strive for what is good, we are avoiding doing the wrong things and that God always
watches us on what we do. Through His angels, He knows everything what’s going on in each in
everyone’s life. God knows your thoughts, your actions, your heart and everything since the day
since you were born even at the moment that you haven’t got a life yet.
It is good thing to remember God always in whatever we do in our life. I always pray to
God to hear what my heart and mind feel that I am genuine in my desires in life that I am
genuine in my plans and goals not just for me but also for my loved ones but most importantly
one of the best thing that God has given me is to think of Him whenever I made a mistake to
others, I always think of Him that God knows that I was wrong or that Gif I get hurt, I am still
thinking that God knows my heart and mind and ask for the strength and knowledge and wisdom
in order for me become strong. On the other hand, we all know that God is the omnipotent and in
the story it reflects how the devil takes place in the universe, it implies that Faust's life and fate
are universally significant events that will shed light on the relationship between God and man,
good and evil, existence and nonexistence. The devil always wanting to deceive everything but
people are trying to find what is right and despite numerous erroneous judgments or wrong turns,
one can find the road of virtue if he perseveres. If he continues to fight, he will eventually
succeed since striving is a moral act in and of itself, and his intuitive yearnings all point to a
good outcome. Mephisto represents the spirit of negativity to all humankind which can be driven
into in which he can be a force for good or evil, encouraging a man to submit to his lowest
instincts and abandon the mission, or leading him to achieve the fulfillment of his goals, like
salvation, through relentless pushing and frustration. But God is unaffected by Mephisto's
threats to Faust because He understands that man has a fundamental desire against do good, and
that mistakes and slipping back are natural occurrences on the path to virtue. Just like in our life
there are times that we may seems to surrender our life to stop from our plans and goals because
there are hindrances that we cannot carry but if we surrender everything from God it is the time
then that you will realize how you wanted to overcome the trials and God is working on it for
you but of course you must also work for it. Everything we hope to reach, our plans or goals and
our dreams must always have actions. It is true what God thinks of us as his creation, that no
matter how many times we create mistake and wrong doings still we are always committed to do
the right thing. Is is natural for us to encounter hardships in life but we always aim to do good
things and embrace our battles because we believe that there is a greater end.
God understands his creation as a whole. that no mind can understand it but only Him.
Faust is the representation. Humanity is represented by Faust. We don't always find the right
path, but we believe in God. God accepts us into heaven if we repent of our sins, turn away from
our wicked deeds, and strive for the good.

The story lets us understand that the greed always has its outcome that you are going to
reap what you sow at the end. The human nature of greed will never be satisfied. All things will
never be worth it at the end if we will not be contented on what we have in our life, we should
instead embrace what we have and enrich it.
One shouldn’t be greedy. Pahom is obsessed with acquiring as much land as he can get
his hands on, and as a result of his greed, he dies. It demonstrates how human nature drives us to
desire even more. No matter how well off we are, we are never satisfied with our life, and in
seeking to enhance our level of living, we put ourselves in danger of getting caught with nothing.
Greed is intertwined with the idea of self-worth. We crave things and power because we know
that if we have them, people will laud and admire us, and that is how we determine our self-
worth, which is a wrong perspective. However, people quickly forget our previous achievements,
and we must continue to pursue new experiences in order to maintain our self-worth. Tolstoy lets
us understand that we need to seek for our self-worth in many ways other than accumulating
wealth and power. Pahom is content with his existence, but not with the circumstances in which
he lives not knowing that he have lost sight of the true goal of life when he become enslaved to
gaining more and clinging to what he have. There are many temptations in this world which is
always there to destroy our plan and ourselves. Sometimes it is hard for us to identify what
temptations are because in our journey we encounter so much happiness on the things that satisfy
us without knowing its circumstances in the end and slowly losing ourselves in the process. With
this experiences temptations will not only prevail us wrong doings but also by the people
surrounding you and there influence. Once you will easily get deceive by their appeals and
disturbances in your life, it will swallow an eagerness to do certain things which can rejoice the
devil and pushes us to our sinful act. The title itself signifies that man on earth are merely
malcontent, it takes many ways in order to gain wealth he had which he cannot even bring with
him when death take charge of his depth. Relating our life to the story would be of much
realization that our self-worth behind reaching for our plans and goals must balance in order for
not to be blinded by the wrong pleasures of life which only gives us a glimpse of happiness.
The life we had is important that each decision we create and actions must be think of
thoroughly and we must take away our self-centered behavior, envy, lack of empathy,
unsatisfied, manipulation, knowing no limits and short run that focus us only on satiating our
immediate needs should be avoided and set aside in order to fully understand certain situation
and solve it because our excessive desire can make us lose all they have not just wealth but also
our loved once, the trust, the good things, the right things that we should do in life and most
especially our own self. We must always remember that we are only a steward of life given to us
by God and that must make use of it in many good ways as much as God has given us. We must
learn that the only thing that makes us rich is to give.
