C Directions: Read the text below. Then, read the questions that follow it and circle the
correct answer (A, B or C) to each one.

Animal Rain

History books are full of tales of strange things happening with the weather, but few are stranger than ‘animal rain’.
Stories of raining frogs and fish sound like something from a fairy tale, but there are reports of it actually happening
from as far back as the first century.
Scientists believe this unusual weather occurs when storms cause waterspouts – tornadoes over water – in areas
of the sea, lakes or even small ponds. The air current picks up the small marine life and carries it into the clouds.
These big storm clouds can travel long distances before releasing the animals all at once in the ‘animal rain’.
There are reports of this happening all over the world but in the small Honduran town of Yoro it appears to happen
very often. For the last 100 years, every May to July after massive rain storms, the people go into the fields with
wooden baskets to collect the fish that fall from the skies. They even have an annual festival which started in 1998
called Lluvia de Peces to celebrate this ‘Rain of Fish’.
