Principles of Management
1.0 SYNOPSIS
This course is designed to accentuate the role of management and its guiding
principles of planning, organizing, leading and controlling. Students will also be
exposed to the techniques in use today to further enhance management efficiency.
It will also evaluate the pros and cons of both the job of management as well as its
role in the organization. The course will also touch on contemporary issues that
management faces today in the context of the organization specifically and the
human element generally. Students will also be required to complete a group
project in order to further understand the intricacies of management.
2.0 OBJECTIVES
i. Define the fundamental ideas behind the concepts, functions and required
rudimentary skills in management.
ii. Explain about management in relation to organization, human resources,
other physical resources and the environment
iii. Discuss the contemporary management practices in use.
