(b) Apart from incest and domestic violence, identify TWO other social issues that
negatively affect families in the Caribbean. ( 2 marks)

(c) Give ONE reason for incest in some Caribbean families. ( 2 m ar ks)

(d) Give TWO reasons for domestic violence in some Caribbean families. ( 4 marks)

(e) Suggest ONE measure a government may introduce to reduce poverty in your country.
Write a statement to support the measure you have suggested. ( 5 marks)

(c) Give THREE reasons why the migration of skilled people from the Caribbean will
negatively affect the region. ( 6 marks)

(d) Suggest ONE strategy that may reduce the migration of people from less developed
to more developed CARICOM countr.ies. State why the strategy you have suggested
should be accepted by the government of your coun try. ( 5 marks)

Economic Integration

Prepare an address to a group of manufacturers on the above topic. In your address state the
meaning of economic integration and identify TWO regional organizations that promote
economic integration. Name TWO member countries of one of the organizations that you have
identified. Next give THREE explanations to show how Caribbean manufacturers may benefit
from economic integration. Finally suggest ONE action Caribbean governments may take to
strengthen economic integration. State why you think your action will be successful.

7. Write an essay on employment, unemployment and underemployment in the Caribbean. In


your · essay define employment and underemployment. Then describe TWO types of
unemployment. Next give THREE reasons why some young people in the Caribbean may
be unable to find jobs in their country. Finally, suggest to employers in your country ONE
action they may take to help prepare young people for employment State why the action you
have suggested will be accepted by the employers. Total17 marks

Modern Technology and the Consumer

You are asked to address a group of consumers on the above topic. First identify TWO
products of modem technology which commercial banks have introduced for customers to
transact business. Then state TWO types of business for which customers use these
products. Next describe ONE benefit of using these products in making transactions. Then
give THREE reasons why some customers may be unwilling to use these products to do
their transactions. Finally suggest ONE way commercial banks may encourage their customers
to use the products they have introduced. Say why the way you suggested will be effective.

Write an essay on the above topic. Begin by defining mass media and then state TWO
functions of mass media. Next, describe ONE way in which Caribbean governments regulate

media. Finally suggest to media managers ONE strategy they may use to improve the services
they provide. Write a statement to support the strategy you have suggested.

TOURISM IS ABOUT PEOPLE

Write a newspaper article on the topic above. Begin your article by defining the term 'tourist'
and then name ONE type of tourist. Next describe TWO cultural activities that are organized by
tourism officials to attract tourists to the Caribbean. Give THREE reasons why some residents
may react negatively to the presence of tourists in their country. Finally suggest ONE strategy
the government of your country may use to improve relationships between tourists and citizens.
State why your government should accept your strategy.
